Description
Material Use:
A-100 Exterior Latex is a 100% acrylic, flat-finish exterior paint designed for quality performance on residential and commercial buildings. It is suitable for use on a variety of substrates including aluminum, vinyl, wood siding, shakes, shingles, plywood, masonry, and metal.
System Components:
This paint is used as a topcoat and may be paired with various primers depending on the substrate:
- Aluminum/Galvanized Steel: 2 coats A-100 (air and surface temp must be ≥50°F)
- Concrete Block/CMU: 1 coat Loxon Acrylic Block Surfacer + 2 coats A-100
- Brick, Stucco, Cement, Concrete: 1 coat Loxon Concrete & Masonry Primer or Loxon Conditioner + 2 coats A-100
- Cement Composition Siding/Panels: 1 coat Loxon Concrete & Masonry Primer or Loxon Conditioner + 2 coats A-100
- Plywood: 1 coat Exterior Latex Primer + 2 coats A-100
- Vinyl Siding: 2 coats A-100 (VinylSafe® colors recommended for dark shades)
- Wood (Cedar, Redwood): 1 coat Exterior Oil-Based Wood Primer + 2 coats A-100
- Wood Composition Board (Hardboard): 1 coat Exterior Oil-Based Wood Primer + 2 coats A-100
Applications:
Ideal for exterior surfaces where a flat, mildew-resistant finish is needed. Compatible with aluminum, vinyl, wood, masonry, and metal substrates.
Application Details:
- Coverage: 350–400 sq. ft. per gallon at 4 mils wet (1.3 mils dry)
- Application Methods: Brush (nylon-polyester), Roller (3/8–3/4 inch nap), Airless Spray (2000 psi, 0.015–0.019” tip)
- Temperature Range: Minimum application temp is 35°F; do not apply if air/surface/material temps may fall below 35°F within 48 hours
- Dry Time at 50% RH:
- Touch: 2 hours (at ≥35°F)
- Recoat: 24–48 hours (at 35–45°F), 4 hours (at >45°F)
- VOC: <50 g/L (0.42 lbs/gal)
- Solids by Volume: 34% ±2%
- Weight per Gallon: 10.99 lbs
- Shelf Life: 36 months (unopened)
- Film Thickness: 4 mils wet recommended
- Mildew Resistance: Contains mildew-inhibiting agents
Special Notes:
- Not UV-stable after cure unless otherwise topcoated
- Do not use standard latex primers below 50°F
- Not for use on floors
- Clean tools with soap and water; rinse spray equipment with solvent
- Use appropriate caulks after priming where needed
- Observe all surface-specific preparation guidelines, especially for masonry, wood, and metal
- Do not use dark colors on vinyl unless VinylSafe® colors are chosen to avoid warping
