Description

Aromatic Binder 100 is a 100% solids, slow-cure aromatic binder for upper moderate temperature applications. It is a single component, moisture cure binder for rubber, SBR, EPDM, TPV granules and various rock aggregates.

Material Use:

Aromatic Binder 100 is a 100% solids, single-component, moisture-cure aromatic binder designed for bonding rubber, SBR, EPDM, TPV granules, and various rock aggregates. It is especially suited for upper moderate temperature applications due to its slow-cure nature.

System Components:

This binder is typically used in combination with rubber or granular components such as EPDM or TPV to form flexible surface systems. If a clear color finish is required, Aliphatic Binder 5609 should be used instead, as Aromatic Binder 100 is light amber in color.

Applications:

Commonly used in sports surfaces, playgrounds, walking paths, and rubberized safety flooring systems. It is well-suited for outdoor applications where bonding of flexible or elastic materials is required.

Application Details:

·       Installation Surface Requirements: Substrates must be clean, dry, and free of oil or debris.

·       Pot Life / Working Time: Extended working time due to slow-cure characteristics, ideal for detailed application areas.

·       Curing Time: Tack-free in 7–10 hours at 72–75°F (22.2–23.9°C) and 40–50% RH. Full cure time is dependent on ambient temperature and humidity—higher values accelerate curing.

·       Temperature Range: Best storage and application conditions are 75–95°F (24–35°C). Avoid use in excessively humid or wet environments which can affect curing.

·       Shelf Life: 12 months in unopened containers, provided moisture is excluded.

Special Notes:

·       Viscosity: 3000 ± 500 cps, suitable for brush, trowel, or mechanical mixing and pouring applications.

·       Tensile Strength: 3800 ± 400 psi (ASTM D-412).

·       Elongation: 450 ± 50%, offering excellent flexibility.

·       Tear Resistance: 500 ± 50 pli (ASTM D-624 Die C).

·       UV Stability: This is an aromatic formulation and not UV stable; use an aliphatic topcoat such as Aliphatic Binder 5609 where UV exposure is a concern.

·       VOC Content: 0 g/L — fully compliant with low-emission requirements.

·       Packaging Options: 5-gallon pail, 55-gallon drum, and 250-gallon tote.
