Description

Epoxy Binder for Industrial and Institutional Floor Surfacings

Material Use:

A two-component, low viscosity epoxy binder designed for industrial and institutional monolithic floor surfacing. It serves as both a primer and an aggregate binder in multi-layer systems like broadcast, self-leveling, slurry, and trowel-compacted applications. It's ideal for chemical exposure conditions and areas with heavy wear, including manufacturing facilities, warehouses, food and beverage plants, and institutions.

System Components:

·      Primer: Neat CCS Binder at 8–10 mils thickness (coverage 160–200 sq ft/gal).

·      Aggregate: High silica sand (≥85% SiO₂), kiln-dried, graded. Different mesh sizes depending on application:

o      Broadcast: #20x40 or #30x50 mesh

o      Self-leveling: Blend of #20x30 or #30x50 with #140 or #200 mesh silica

o      Slurry: #8x16, #12x20, or #16x30 mesh

o      Trowel-compacted: Blend of #12 or #16 with #70 or #90 mesh

·      Binder Thickness: 20–30 mils per layer in broadcast systems

Applications:

Used for surfacing and repairs in:

·      Light and heavy industrial floors

·      Warehouses

·      Institutional buildings

·      Food and beverage processing facilities (e.g., dairies, breweries, wineries)

·      Facilities requiring chemical and abrasion resistance

Application Details:

·      Mix Ratio: 2:1 by volume (Resin:Hardener)

·      Pot Life (Gel Time): ~25 minutes (100g sample at 73°F)

·      Installation Temperature Range: Minimum 50°F

·      Curing Time: Fast cure for minimal downtime; full cure required before exposure to chemicals

·      Full Cure Time: Typically 7 days at 73°F

·      Max Thickness per Lift: 1 inch

·      Coverage as Primer: 160–200 sq ft/gal at 8–10 mils

·      UV Resistance: Not specified; usage under UV exposure should be evaluated

·      Viscosity (Mixed): 320 cp

Special Notes:

·      Surface must not be wet; dry or damp surfaces acceptable

·      Surface preparation must comply with ASTM C 811 or ACI 503R standards

·      Material is VOC-free and environmentally safer

·      Limited resistance to hydrocarbon solvents and strong chemicals; trial application is advised for harsh exposures

·      Not to be thinned with solvents

·      Recommended safety gear: gloves and goggles; refer to MSDS for health and handling guidelines
