Description

Material Use:

CCS Bonder Liquid SWL is a – Short Pot Life, Structural Epoxy Adhesive Liquid Bonding Agent. It is a  two-component epoxy adhesive used primarily for structural bonding in concrete construction. It is designed for bonding fresh (plastic) concrete to hardened concrete, anchoring steel components such as rebar, bolts, and dowels into downward-oriented holes in concrete, and bonding other construction materials including masonry, stone, steel, and wood. It is also used for delamination repair in hardened concrete and for affixing external steel reinforcement for seismic retrofits.

System Components:

This material is part of a two-part epoxy system comprising Part A (white resin) and Part B (black hardener), which when mixed yields a blue-gray adhesive. The mix ratio is 2:1 by volume (100:35 by weight). It may be extended with aggregate for void filling or used in conjunction with compatible products like CCS Bonder Paste SWL to adjust viscosity or working time. For lower temperature or slower cure needs, CCS Bonder Liquid LWL is recommended.

Applications:

·         Bonding fresh Portland cement concrete to hardened concrete

·         Horizontal bonding of rigid materials and structural anchors

·         Void filling (neat or with aggregate)

·         Delamination repairs of concrete

·         Structural reinforcement bonding (e.g., steel plates, K-bracing)

Application Details:

·         Mixing & Application: Mix using a Jiffy blade at 350–750 rpm for 2–3 minutes. Apply by trowel, roller, squeegee, or spray rig. Bond lines should be at least 15 mils (0.38 mm) for fresh-to-hardened concrete applications; at least 4 mils above peak profile in other cases.

·         Surface Prep: Substrates must be CSP 2–4 per ICRI 310.2R, clean and sound with minimum tensile strength of 250 psi. Steel must be prepared to “white metal” (SSPC-SP 5/NACE 1).

·         Aggregate Extension: One gallon covers 231 in³ neat; with up to 5 gallons of sand per gallon of epoxy, it yields ~1,100 in³ of mortar.

·         Packaging: Available in 3, 15, and 150-gallon kits.

·         Shelf Life: 3 years in original, unopened containers stored at 50–90°F.

Special Notes:

·         Environmental Limits: Installation/cure temperature must be ≥50°F (10°C). For cooler applications (down to 40°F), use CCS Bonder Liquid LWL.

·         Pot Life: 0.3 hours at 73°F (23°C)

·         Open Time: 3 hours at 73°F

·         Cure Time (Hard Dry): 4 days at 73°F

·         Thickness Recommendations: Minimum bond line 15 mils for fresh-to-hardened concrete; ≥4 mils above peaks for other surfaces

·         UV Resistance: Not specified as UV-stable; likely to require protection if exposed

·         Compressive Strength: 10,800 psi (ASTM D695)

·         Chemical Resistance: Excellent against acids, bases, oils, fuels, and fluids (limited resistance to hydrocarbons)

·         Coverage: One gallon of neat product yields 231 cubic inches, extendable up to 1,100 in³ with sand

·         Compatibility: Can be blended with CCS Bonder Paste SWL to customize viscosity and working time
