Description

CCS Bonder Paste LWL is a two-component, long working life, structural epoxy paste adhesive designed for high-strength bonding applications in concrete, masonry, and stone.

Material Use

This product is primarily used for structural bonding of hardened concrete, masonry, and stone to themselves and each other. It is also employed for anchoring bolts, dowels, and rebar into horizontal and overhead holes, and for filling wide cracks, gaps, and voids in vertical, horizontal, and overhead applications.

System Components

The material consists of Part A (epoxy resin) and Part B (hardener), mixed at a 2:1 volume ratio. CCS Bonder Paste LWL can be modified with compatible products:

·         Bonder Paste SWL (Short Work Life) to reduce working time.

·         Bonder Liquid LWL to reduce viscosity for easier handling.

These products share a 2:1 mix ratio and are chemically compatible.

Applications

 Typical uses include:

·         Fairing and leveling surfaces with trowel application.

·         Grouting and anchoring rebar, bolts, or dowels into predrilled horizontal and overhead holes (approx. 40% of hole volume filled).

·         Structural adhesive in bonding two solid substrates using positive contact pressure.

Application Details

·         Surface Prep: Surfaces must be clean, sound, and free of bond-inhibiting materials. Concrete should have a minimum 250 psi tensile strength and steel should be cleaned to SSPC SP 5 standard.

·         Mixing: Mix small batches that can be used within the pot life. Use a low-speed drill (350–750 rpm) and Jiffy-type mixer for 2–3 minutes.

·         Installation: Apply using margin trowel, caulking gun, or other suitable method depending on the application.

Special Notes

·         Temperature Range: Minimum installation temperature is 50°F. Apply after substrate temperature has peaked.

·         Pot Life (Gel Time): At 73°F, gel time is 1.4 hours (1 quart mass). Pot life shortens with higher temperatures.

·         Cure Time: Initial hard dry time is 10 hours; full cure in 7 days at 73°F.

·         Open Time: 4 hours at 73°F; varies with ambient conditions.

·         Non-Sag Limit: Non-sag up to ½ inch thickness.

·         UV Resistance: Not specified; external applications may need protective coatings.

·         Chemical Resistance: Excellent resistance to acids, bases, oils, and automotive fluids. Noted discoloration when exposed to 98% sulfuric acid.

·         Coverage/Yield: Estimated 40% of hole volume when used as anchoring grout.

·         Cleanup: Use acetone or heavy-duty detergents for uncured product. Cured material may require epoxy stripper.

Shelf Life and Storage

Shelf life is 3 years in original unopened containers stored at 60–90°F in dry, shaded conditions.
