Description

Material Use:

This product is a two-component, solvent-free epoxy resin coating system designed for protective coating applications on marine structures made of concrete, steel, and wood. It is engineered for both above- and below-waterline use in salt and fresh water environments. Typical uses include protection of concrete piers, seawalls, dock floors, sewer pipes, and steel structures like pilings, drilling rigs, and ship hulls, as well as wooden elements such as piers and power poles.

System Components:

·         Base Coat: Off-white epoxy component.

·         Top Coat (optional): Blue-gray pigmented epoxy used for contrast and enhanced visibility, especially under poor lighting conditions.

·         Both parts are mixed in a 1:1 volume ratio (Part A : Part B), with matched colors for clear differentiation.

Applications:

CCS Coating can be applied to dry, damp, wet, or submerged substrates and is suitable for environments requiring high durability, chemical resistance, and exposure to marine elements. It is especially useful in situations with tidal zones or submerged conditions where standard coatings would fail.

Application Details:

·         Surface Preparation: Substrates must be cleaned thoroughly by dry or wet sandblasting. Concrete should have at least 200 psi in direct tensile strength. Steel should be cleaned to "white metal" (SSPC SP 5).

·         Mixing: Mix Part A and B in a 1:1 volume ratio using a Jiffy mixer at 350–750 rpm for 2–3 minutes.

·         Installation Techniques:

o        Above Waterline: Apply after peak substrate temperature using standard methods for viscous coatings.

o        Below Waterline: Apply with a stiff brush and enough pressure to displace water.

·         Recoat Window: 18–24 hours. Base Coat can serve as the second coat if Top Coat is not used.

·         Pot Life: Approximately 45 minutes at 68°F.

·         Cure Times: Soft gel in 4 hours, hard gel in 6 hours, full cure in 7 days at 68°F.

·         Coverage (per gallon):

o        5 mils: 320 sq ft

o        10 mils: 160 sq ft

o        20 mils: 80 sq ft

o        25 mils: 64 sq ft

o        30 mils: 53 sq ft

Special Notes:

·         Environmental Conditions: Minimum substrate temperature is 50°F. Installation must be timed carefully in tidal zones to prevent displacement by wave action.

·         Chemical Resistance: Highly resistant to salt/fresh water, fuels, oils, industrial waste, and limited resistance to hydrocarbon solvents.

·         Durability: UV exposure does not cause embrittlement. The coating is Kevlar reinforced for enhanced toughness.

·         Shelf Life: At least three years in unopened containers stored between 60–90°F.

·         Safety: Part A is moderately hazardous; Part B is seriously hazardous (corrosive). Use PPE and ensure good ventilation. Avoid mixing underwater.
