Material Use:

COLPHENE BSW-H PLUS is a high-performance waterproofing membrane specifically designed for horizontal applications beneath concrete slabs. It is ideal for use in foundation waterproofing systems where robust protection against water ingress, radon, and methane gas is required. The membrane is composed of SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene) modified bitumen reinforced with a non-woven polyester mat, providing excellent mechanical strength, flexibility, and durability.

System Components:

COLPHENE BSW-H PLUS is typically used as part of a below-slab waterproofing system. It is installed directly over a clean concrete slab or compacted soil with a protection board to ensure a uniform and solid substrate. The system may include additional reinforcing strips of the same membrane at corners and transitions to ensure watertight integrity. No primer is required for installation, and the membrane is heat-welded at seams and overlaps using a propane torch or electric hot-air welder.

Applications:

This membrane is suitable for horizontal waterproofing applications under concrete slabs in foundation construction. It is particularly effective in environments where protection against water, radon gas, and methane gas is critical. It is also suitable for use in areas where temporary UV exposure (up to 60 days) may occur before the concrete pour.

Application Details:

- Installation Method: Loose-laid and heat-welded (torch or hot-air)

- Overlap Requirements: Side laps must be 100 mm (4 in); end laps must be at least 150 mm (6 in), with staggered end laps by 300 mm (12 in)

- Detail Reinforcement: Inside and outside corners must be reinforced with an additional 300 mm (12 in) strip of membrane

- Surface Preparation: Must be installed over a clean, solid, and uniform surface such as a concrete slab or compacted soil with a protection board

- UV Exposure: Can be exposed to UV for up to 60 days before being covered by concrete

- Storage: Rolls must be stored upright with the selvedge side on top and protected from direct sunlight if stored outdoors

COLPHENE BSW-H PLUS is a non-liquid, sheet-applied membrane and therefore does not have a pot life or wet mil thickness. It is not UV stable for long-term exposure but can tolerate up to 60 days of UV exposure during construction. This product is an excellent choice for robust, long-term waterproofing and gas barrier protection in sub-slab applications.
