Description

COLPHENE ICF is a high quality self-adhesive membrane composed of SBS modified bitumen and a tri-laminate woven polyethylene facer.

UNITS PER SKID: 36

Material Use:

COLPHENE ICF is a self-adhesive SBS-modified bitumen membrane specifically designed for dampproofing and waterproofing of Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) foundations. It is intended for below-grade applications only and provides a durable, flexible barrier against water infiltration and radon gas transmission.

System Components:

The COLPHENE ICF system includes the following components:

- Primary Membrane: COLPHENE ICF, a 1.0 mm (40 mil) thick SBS-modified bitumen membrane with a tri-laminated woven polyethylene facer and silicone release paper on the underside.

- Primer (when required): ELASTOCOL STICK H2O, a water-based primer used to enhance adhesion on dusty or waterproofing-required ICF surfaces.

- Sealant: SOPRASEAL LM 200 T, a mastic/sealant compatible with polystyrene, used to seal the top edge of the membrane and junctions with concrete footings.

- Optional Protection Board: Recommended when pit-run sand is not available for backfilling, to protect the membrane from mechanical damage.

Applications:

COLPHENE ICF is used for:

- Dampproofing and waterproofing of ICF foundation walls in residential, commercial, and institutional construction.

- Providing a radon-resistant barrier in below-grade applications.

- Enhancing the durability and moisture resistance of polystyrene-based ICF systems.

Application Details:

- Surface Preparation: Apply directly to clean, dry ICF surfaces. Primer is not typically required for dampproofing but is necessary for waterproofing or dusty surfaces.

- Primer Application Rate: ELASTOCOL STICK H2O should be applied at 0.1 to 0.3 L/m² and allowed to dry completely before membrane installation. Membrane must be applied the same day as primer.

- Membrane Installation: Peel off the silicone release paper and adhere the membrane to the substrate. Use a membrane roller to apply even pressure for full adhesion.

- Lap Joints: Side laps must be at least 75 mm (3 in), and end laps at least 150 mm (6 in).

- Fastening (if required): Use fasteners with 25 mm (1 in) washers, placed 38 mm (1.5 in) from the top edge and spaced 450 mm (18 in) on center.

- Sealing: Use SOPRASEAL LM 200 T at the top edge and where the membrane meets the footing.

- Backfilling: Backfill only after membrane installation is complete. Use a protection board if pit-run sand is not available.

Special Notes:

- Application Temperature Ranges:

- *Winter Grade:* -10 to 10 °C (14 to 50 °F)

- *Summer Grade:* 10 to 50 °C (50 to 122 °F)

- Service Temperature Range: -45 to 70 °C (-49 to 158 °F)

- UV Resistance: Not UV stable; must be used in below-grade applications only.

- Thickness: 1.0 mm (40 mil)

- Coverage: Each roll measures 22.9 m x 0.91 m (75 ft x 36 in), covering approximately 20.8 m² (224 ft²) per roll.

- Storage: Store rolls upright and protect from sunlight with an opaque cover if stored outdoors.

- Radon Resistance: Offers 14.1 times greater radon resistance than standard 6 mil polyethylene membranes, making it highly effective in radon mitigation.

- Environmental Considerations: Solvent-based primers must not be used as they can damage polystyrene. Only water-based primers like ELASTOCOL STICK H2O are compatible.

COLPHENE ICF is a robust, easy-to-apply membrane system ideal for protecting ICF foundations from moisture and radon infiltration, with a straightforward installation process and excellent mechanical and environmental performance.
