Description
Waterproofing membrane composed of SBS modified bitumen and a non-woven polyester reinforcement for foundations and below grade surfaces.
UNITS PER SKID: 25
Material Use:
COLPHENE SP LAP is a high-performance waterproofing accessory membrane designed for use as a reinforcing strip in below-grade and foundation waterproofing systems. It is specifically engineered to provide additional protection at critical points such as inside and outside corners, construction joints, and other detail areas where enhanced reinforcement is required.
System Components:
COLPHENE SP LAP is part of the SOPREMA COLPHENE waterproofing system. It is used in conjunction with other COLPHENE waterproofing membranes, particularly those with sanded or thermofusible plastic film surfaces. The system typically includes a base waterproofing membrane (such as COLPHENE 3000 or COLPHENE BSW) and COLPHENE SP LAP as a detail reinforcement layer. The membrane is composed of SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene) modified bitumen and reinforced with a non-woven polyester mat, providing excellent flexibility and mechanical strength.
Applications:
This product is used in foundation and below-grade waterproofing applications, particularly at vulnerable areas such as:
- Inside and outside corners
- Construction joints
- Transitions and terminations
- Other detail areas requiring additional reinforcement
Application Details:
COLPHENE SP LAP is applied by heat-welding using a propane torch. It is designed to be installed over compatible COLPHENE membranes, whether they have a sanded surface or a thermofusible plastic film. The membrane must be applied with care to ensure full adhesion and watertight integrity at detail areas. The product is supplied in rolls measuring 33 cm x 10 m (13 in x 33 ft), with a nominal thickness of 3.5 mm (140 mil).
Special Notes:
- Installation Temperature: The product is designed to be installed in a wide range of temperatures, with flexibility maintained down to -20 °C (-4 °F).
- UV Resistance: As a below-grade product, UV resistance is not a primary concern; however, the product should be protected from prolonged UV exposure during storage and before backfilling.
- Storage: Rolls must be stored upright and protected from direct sunlight and weather exposure. Use an opaque cover if stored outdoors.
- Waterproofing Performance: The membrane exhibits excellent resistance to hydrostatic pressure (>110 m or >360 ft) and lateral water migration, making it ideal for high-performance waterproofing systems.
- Mechanical Properties: High tensile strength (17 / 11.5 kN/m MD/XD), elongation at break (60 / 65%), and puncture resistance (1050 N) ensure durability and long-term performance.
- Water Absorption & Permeance: Very low water absorption (<0.5%) and water vapor permeance (<0.04 perm) contribute to its effectiveness as a waterproofing barrier.
- Adhesion: Excellent adhesion to poured concrete (3400 N/m or 19.4 lbf/in) ensures secure bonding in detail areas.
Coverage:
Each roll covers approximately 3.3 m² (35.5 ft²), with a weight of 4.3 kg/m² (0.9 lb/ft²). Coverage should be calculated based on the number of detail areas requiring reinforcement.
Limitations:
- Not intended for use as a standalone waterproofing membrane.
- Must be installed by trained professionals using proper heat-welding techniques.
- Ensure compatibility with base membranes and substrates before application.
COLPHENE SP LAP is a critical component in SOPREMA’s comprehensive waterproofing systems, providing targeted reinforcement and enhanced protection in areas most susceptible to water ingress.
