COLPLY TRAFFIC CAP FR is a high-performance SBS-modified bitumen cap sheet membrane designed for use as the top layer in multi-ply roofing and waterproofing systems. It is specifically engineered for areas subject to vehicular or pedestrian traffic and offers enhanced fire resistance. The membrane is surfaced with coloured granules for UV protection and aesthetic appeal, and features a sanded underface to facilitate adhesion.

COLPLY TRAFFIC CAP FR is typically used as the final cap sheet in a multi-layer SBS-modified bitumen system. It is installed over a compatible base sheet membrane using either cold adhesive or SEBS hot bitumen. The recommended adhesive for cold application is COLPLY Adhesive, while SOPRASPHALTE M is used for hot bitumen applications. For installations in temperatures below 0 °C (32 °F), the more flexible version, COLPLY TRAFFIC CAP FLEX, is recommended. The system may also include a primer depending on the substrate condition, although specific primers are not detailed in the TDS.

This membrane is suitable for use in roofing systems where high durability and fire resistance are required, such as commercial rooftops, parking decks, and other high-traffic flat roof areas. It is designed to be the top layer in a multi-ply SBS-modified bitumen system and is compatible with both cold and hot application methods.

COLPLY TRAFFIC CAP FR can be installed using two primary methods:

1. Cold Adhesive Application: The membrane is unrolled onto a previously applied layer of COLPLY Adhesive using a notched squeegee. End laps (100–125 mm or 4–5 in) must be treated with additional adhesive and welded using a hot-air welder. Side laps must also be welded, preferably with an automatic hot-air welder for better efficiency and seal quality.

2. Hot Bitumen Application: The membrane is embedded into a bed of SEBS hot bitumen (SOPRASPHALTE M) applied with a mop.

- Thickness: Minimum thickness is 3.5 mm (138 mils), with a selvedge thickness of at least 2.75 mm (108 mils).

- Temperature Range for Installation: For cold adhesive applications, use COLPLY TRAFFIC CAP FLEX when temperatures are below 0 °C (32 °F).

- UV Resistance: The membrane is surfaced with coloured granules, providing UV protection and making it UV-resistant after cure.

- Fire Resistance: The FR version offers improved fire resistance and complies with ULC-S107 standards. Refer to the TGFUC.R19921 listing in the UL Canada directory for specific system classifications.

- Storage: Rolls must be stored upright with the selvedge side on top. If stored outdoors, they must be covered with an opaque protective cover.

- Dimensions: Each roll measures 10 m x 1 m (33 ft x 3.3 ft).

- Reinforcement: Composite reinforcement provides dimensional stability and strength.

- Low Temperature Flexibility: Maintains flexibility down to -27 °C (-17 °F), and -12 °C (10 °F) after UV weathering.

- Puncture Resistance: Passes standard puncture resistance tests.

- Granule Embedment: Less than 2.0 g (0.07 oz), indicating strong granule adhesion.

Limitations:

- Not intended for use as a standalone waterproofing layer; must be used as part of a multi-layer system.

- Specific pot life, curing time, and full cure time are not applicable as this is a pre-manufactured membrane.

- Ensure proper welding of laps to maintain waterproof integrity.

- Installation should follow SOPREMA guidelines and be performed by trained professionals.

This product is ideal for integration into SOPREMA SBS-modified bitumen systems where fire resistance and traffic durability are critical. It pairs with COLPLY Adhesive or SOPRASPHALTE M and may be used in conjunction with other SOPREMA base sheets and primers as part of a complete waterproofing or roofing system.
