Material Use:
COLVENT BASE 830 is a high-performance SBS-modified bitumen base sheet membrane designed for use in roofing systems. It serves as a partially bonded base layer in multi-ply waterproofing assemblies, particularly in commercial and industrial flat or low-slope roofing applications.
System Components:
COLVENT BASE 830 is typically used as the base sheet in a multi-layer SBS-modified bitumen roofing system. It is installed in conjunction with SOPRALAP membrane for end lap reinforcement and may be used over SOPRA-ISO PLUS or SOPRA-ISO PLUS HD insulation panels. For other substrates, ELASTOCOL STICK primers are required to ensure proper adhesion. The system utilizes DUO SELVEDGE technology for immediate side lap sealing and requires a propane torch to weld the final 25 mm (1 in) of the side lap.
Applications:
This membrane is suitable for use in new construction or re-roofing projects where a durable, partially adhered base sheet is required. It is ideal for use over approved insulation boards or primed substrates in SBS-modified bitumen roofing systems. The product is designed for use in climates where cold weather application is necessary, with a minimum installation temperature of -10 °C (14 °F).
Application Details:
COLVENT BASE 830 is applied by removing the silicone release film and pressing the membrane into place using a membrane roller to ensure full adhesion. The side laps are sealed using a propane torch, and end laps are covered with SOPRALAP membrane. The membrane features discontinuous self-adhesive strips on the underside, allowing for partial adhesion and improved vapor pressure management. The surface is covered with a thermofusible plastic film, which facilitates heat welding of subsequent layers.

Special Notes:
- COLVENT BASE 830 must be stored upright with the selvedge side on top. If stored outdoors, rolls must be protected with an opaque cover.
- The product is compliant with CSA A123.23 Type A, Grade 3 standards.
- It exhibits excellent low-temperature flexibility down to -30 °C (-22 °F) and compound stability up to 91 °C (195 °F).
- This membrane is not UV stable and must be covered with a cap sheet or other protective layer.
- It is not intended for use as a standalone waterproofing layer and must be used as part of a complete SBS-modified bitumen roofing system.
- No pot life or curing time is applicable, as this is a pre-manufactured sheet membrane.
This product is best used in combination with SOPREMA’s SOPRALAP and ELASTOCOL STICK primers for a complete, high-performance SBS-modified bitumen roofing system.
