Description

Short Potlife Epoxy Paste Adhesive for Bonding

Material Use:

KEMKO 009 SP Paste is a two-component, solvent-free structural epoxy paste adhesive, primarily used for bonding rigid construction materials such as concrete, masonry, stone, steel, and sealed wood. It is designed for vertical, overhead, and horizontal applications, including anchoring bolts, dowels, and rebar, as well as for adhesive bonding of steel plates to concrete in external reinforcement setups. The product is also suitable as a surface seal in pressure injection grouting under the KIP System.

System Components:

The product is used as a standalone adhesive system, but its working life and viscosity can be adjusted by blending with compatible products like KEMKO 028 LP Paste (for longer pot life) and KEMKO 008 SP Bonder (for higher viscosity). All products in this system family (KEMKO 001, 008, 009, 028) share a 2:1 (by volume) mix ratio.

Applications:

·      Bonding of construction materials (concrete, masonry, steel, wood)

·      Anchoring reinforcement (bolts, dowels, rebar) in all orientations

·      Bonding steel plates to concrete for reinforcement

·      Surface sealing for pressure injection grouting

·      Applicable on dry, damp, or wet substrates (excluding free-standing water)

Application Details:

·      Mix Ratio: 2:1 by volume (Part A:Part B)

·      Installation Temperature: Minimum 40°F for both installation and curing

·      Pot Life (Gel Time): 0.3 hours at 73°F

·      Open Time: 3 hours at 73°F

·      Hard Dry Time: 10 hours at 73°F

·      Full Cure Time: 4 days at 73°F

·      Thickness Limit: Non-sag up to ½ inch

·      Application Method: Trowel for bonding, caulking gun for anchoring

·      Cure Strength: Compressive yield 10,500 psi; flexural strength 10,500 psi; heat deflection temperature 120°F

·      Surface Prep: Must be clean and sound; roughened per ASTM D 4259 or ACI 503R

·      Mixing: Use low-speed drill (350–750 rpm) and mix for 2–3 minutes

·      Coverage: Not explicitly given in ft²/gal, varies with thickness and application method

Special Notes:

·      Not UV-stable; no information about UV resistance post-cure

·      Excellent adhesion in adverse conditions (cold, damp)

·      VOC-free and solvent-free formulation

·      Chemical resistance includes acids, bases, fuels, and oils (limited resistance to hydrocarbon solvents)

·      For longer pot life or lower viscosity, blend only with designated companion products (not with solvents)

·      Storage: Shelf life of 3 years in original sealed containers, stored between 60–90°F

This material is ideal for high-strength, high-adhesion bonding and anchoring applications in structural environments, particularly where surface orientation or moisture may challenge conventional adhesives.
