Description

Epoxy Paste Adhesive for Dowel, Rebar and Bolt Grouting

Material Use

KEMKO 041 Dowel QuikSET Grout is a two-component, solvent-free epoxy paste adhesive designed for structural bonding and anchoring applications. It is primarily used for grouting bolts, dowels, and rebar into concrete, masonry, or stone. It also serves in the adhesive bonding of steel plates to concrete, particularly in external reinforcement scenarios, and for general bonding of rigid construction materials like concrete, stone, and steel.

System Components

This material consists of two parts: Part A (epoxy resin) and Part B (hardener), mixed in a 1:1 volume ratio (100:135 by weight). The mixed material is a concrete blue-gray paste with non-sag properties and is capable of filling horizontal, vertical (downward), and overhead applications.

Applications

It is suitable for horizontal and vertical installations and can bond to dry, damp, or wet substrates, provided there is no standing water. It is compliant with ASTM C 881 for bonding agents in load-bearing applications, making it suitable for infrastructure repairs and upgrades.

Application Details

·      Surface Prep: Concrete surfaces must be clean and free of bond-inhibiting substances. Preparation should follow ASTM D 4259 or ACI 503R guidelines. Steel surfaces should be cleaned to 'white metal' as per SSPC SP 5.

·      Mixing: Mix thoroughly using a Jiffy mixer for 2–3 minutes. Only prepare quantities that can be applied before the 35-minute pot life expires.

·      Installation: For anchoring, fill approx. 40% of the hole volume, insert bar while rotating to expel air. For surface bonding, apply with a trowel and ensure pressure is maintained until set.

Special Notes

·      Environmental Limits: Minimum substrate temperature during installation and cure is 40°F. Avoid application if in-service temperature may exceed 120°F (20°F below HDT).

·      Pot Life: Approximately 35 minutes at 200g mass.

·      Curing: Achieves full mechanical properties after 7 days at 73°F.

·      Thickness Limits: Non-sag up to 1/4 inch.

·      Shelf Life: Minimum of three years in unopened containers stored between 60°F and 90°F.

·      UV Resistance: Not specifically UV-rated; suitable for internal structural use.

·      Coverage: Specific volume coverage not detailed; depends on installation type and hole volume.

·      Chemical Resistance: Excellent resistance to acids, bases, fuels, and cutting oils; limited resistance to hydrocarbon solvents.

·      Color: Standard mixed color is concrete gray (blue-gray); custom colors available.
