BONDER - LONG POT LIFE, STRUCTURAL EPOXY ADHESIVE NON-SAG PASTE
KEMKO 170 LP Paste Bonder – a long pot life, non-sag, structural epoxy adhesive paste, suitable for use on horizontal, vertical, and overhead surfaces.
Designed for structural bonding and repair applications including pressure injection grouting, segmental bonding of precast elements, anchoring steel reinforcement, crack injection, and dowel/rebar embedment. It is compatible with dry and damp concrete, masonry, stone, and steel surfaces. This material is part of the KIP (KEMKO Injection Process) system.
· Two-component system: Mix ratio 1:1 by volume (Part A: Resin, Part B: Hardener).
· Can be extended with kiln-dried sand for pourable or trowel-grade applications.
· For rapid cure or low-temperature applications, it can be substituted with KEMKO 171 SP.
· Structural repair of cracks in concrete.
· Bonding dissimilar materials such as steel plates and reinforcement to concrete.
· Segmental construction joints in precast bridges and parking structures.
· Anchoring of bolts, dowels, and rebars into concrete or masonry.
· Surface sealing in epoxy injection processes.
· Gap and void filling in concrete or masonry structures, including historical restorations.
· Minimum substrate temperature: 50°F (10°C) for installation and cure.
· For colder conditions (down to 40°F/4°C), use KEMKO 171 SP instead.
· Mixing: 2–3 minutes using a low-speed drill with Jiffy mixer.
· Application methods: V-notch trowel, squeegee, roller, or spray (for large areas).
· Pot Life (Gel Time):
o 100 min at 50°F (10°C)
o 70 min at 73°F (23°C)
o 30 min at 105°F (41°C)
· Open Time: Up to 5 hours at 50°F, 4 hours at 73°F
· Cure Time (Hard Dry):
o 14 hrs at 50°F
o 7 hrs at 73°F
o 3 hrs at 105°F
· Thickness: Non-sag up to 1/4 inch (6.3 mm); bond line should be at least 15 mils in plastic-to-concrete applications, 4 mils above peak CSP for others.
· Coverage for rebar embedment: Refer to detailed tables (page 3) for precise volume by rebar size, embedment depth, and hole diameter.
· Extended Coverage: 1 gal yields 231 in³; when extended with 2 gal of sand, up to 500 in³.
· Complies with ASTM C881 Types I, II, IV, V, Grade 3, Class C; AASHTO M235; ACI 548.12 and 548.15.
· Excellent chemical resistance to acids, bases, fuels, and oils (limited resistance to hydrocarbons).
· Non-VOC and bio-based components; environmentally friendly.
· Standard color: blue-gray; custom colors available upon request.
· Shelf life: 3 years unopened at 50–90°F storage.
· Not UV stable – UV exposure performance not indicated, suggesting it should be top-coated or shielded if exposed.
