Description

PC-220 Vertical is a single-component, liquid-applied, moisture-cured aromatic polyurethane elastomeric waterproofing base membrane.

Material Use

PC-220 vertical is an elastomeric, single-component, liquid-applied, moisture-cured, aromatic polyurethane waterproofing base membrane designed for vertical surface applications.

PC-220 Vertical functions as a seamless waterproofing base membrane primarily used on concrete, metal, plywood, and wood substrates. It is part of a system for vertical surface waterproofing where flexibility, durability, and moisture resistance are critical.

System Components

·       Base Membrane: PC-220 Vertical

·       Accelerator (Optional): PC-50 (for faster curing)

·       Primer (if recoating after 48 hours): Polyprime U

·       Aggregate (for slip resistance): Rounded sand (16 or 20 mesh, 6.5+ Mohs hardness) at 20 lbs/100 sqft

Applications

 Suitable for:

·       Building facades

·       Wall sections of podium decks or parking structures

·       Any vertical surface requiring waterproofing protection on concrete, metal, wood, or plywood

Application Details

·       Mixing: Use a mechanical mixer at low speed. Avoid air entrapment.

·       Application Method: Squeegee or notched trowel recommended; phenolic resin core rollers can be used with caution to avoid bubbling.

·       Aggregate Broadcast: Apply into the second wet coat for slip resistance, then vacuum excess once cured.

·       Coverage: ~1 gallon per 100 sqft

·       Thickness: 11 ± 2 mils dry film per coat

·       Number of Coats: Typically 1–2 coats

·       Recoat Window: Within 48 hours; if exceeded, re-prime with Polyprime U

Special Notes

·       Cure Time:

o   Standard: 16 hours at 75°F (24°C), 50% RH

o   With PC-50: 6–8 hours under same conditions

o   Full recoat required within 12 hours if PC-50 is used

·       Environmental Limits:

o   Temperature: Apply and store at 60–95°F (15–35°C)

o   Humidity: High humidity accelerates curing; low slows it

o   Storage: 1-year shelf life in original sealed containers

·       Material Sensitivities:

o   Not UV stable—must be protected from sunlight

o   Sensitive to moisture and heat during installation

o   Do not dilute or apply to inappropriate substrates like split slabs or unvented metal pans

o   Moisture-vapor transmission test required for on-grade slabs

·       Warning: Contains isocyanates and solvent; professional application recommended.
