Description
Poly-Caulk® PX27SL (Self-Leveling) is a two component, 1:1 (A:B) ratio by volume, 100% solids polyurethane sealant.
Size: 1.5 gal kit
Material Use
Poly-Caulk PX27SL – 100% Solids, Self-Leveling Polyurethane Joint Sealant
Poly-Caulk PX27SL is a two-component, 1:1 ratio by volume, 100% solids polyurethane joint sealant. It is designed for sealing and repairing horizontal joints and cracks in concrete surfaces where flexibility, durability, and minimal downtime are required. It remains flexible after curing and performs reliably in cold environments.
System Components
This sealant system comprises:
· Side-A (1 quart) and Side-B (1.25 gallons), mixed in a 1:1 ratio by volume.
· Requires Polyprime 2180 or Polyprime EBF-LV as a primer for proper surface preparation.
Applications
Poly-Caulk PX27SL is suitable for:
· Interior and exterior horizontal concrete joints
· Control joints, construction joints, random cracks, and spalls
· Applications in airports, bridge headers, parking garage decks, industrial facilities, saw cuts, truck aprons, and other areas requiring fast turnaround and durable sealing.
Application Details
· Surface Prep: Ensure concrete has cured for 28 days. All joints must be clean, dry, and cut properly. Use a backer rod in control joints, and fill construction joints full-depth without backer rod.
· Mixing: Side-B should be pre-mixed. Combine with Side-A using low-speed mechanical mixing for at least 5 minutes until a uniform mix is achieved. Avoid whipping air to prevent blisters.
· Application Method: Can be applied using a caulking gun or poured directly.
· Joint Dimensions: Width and depth combinations impact coverage (e.g., 1/2” x 1/2” joint provides approx. 77 linear feet per gallon, based on table on page 1).
· Pot Life: 25 ± 5 minutes at 75°F (24°C), 50% RH
· Tack Free Time: 12–24 hours
· Full Cure Time: 36–48 hours depending on ambient conditions
· Temperature Limits: Apply between 40°F and 135°F (4.4°C–57°C); material must be pre-conditioned to 75–80°F (24–27°C)
Special Notes
· UV Stability: Discoloration may occur on UV exposure, though physical properties remain unchanged. Not UV stable for color-critical applications.
· Thickness & Coverage: Coverage varies significantly based on joint size (see chart on page 1). No specific minimum/maximum thickness in mils provided as this is a sealant, not a coating.
· Environmental Limits: Apply only to dry joints; use a torch if moisture is present. All surfaces must be properly primed.
· Shelf Life: 1 year in original sealed containers stored at 60–95°F (15–35°C)
· Cleanup: Mix and cure unused material before disposal. Dispose per local regulations.
