Description
Poly-I-Gard™ 295/295OF is a two component, fast setting, rapid curing and solvent free, high solids, hybrid aliphatic polyurea elastomeric membrane.
Material Use
Poly-I-Gard 295/295OF is a two-component, high-solids, solvent-free, fast-curing hybrid aliphatic polyurea waterproofing membrane topcoat. It is available in two variants—295 and 295OF—differing slightly in VOC content and solid composition to meet regional regulatory requirements.
It is primarily used as a waterproofing topcoat in pedestrian and vehicular deck coating systems. It provides a durable, UV-stable, elastomeric protective finish over concrete, plywood, or metal substrates in both indoor and outdoor environments.
System Components
This topcoat is typically used as the final layer in a system which may involve a primer (e.g., Polyprime U) and a basecoat such as Polycoat-Aquatight or other compatible Polycoat membrane products. The two-component system includes Side-A (4 gallons) and Side-B (0.4 gallons), mixed in a 10:1 volume ratio.
Applications
Typical applications include mechanical room floors, kennels, pedestrian decks, and vehicular traffic decks. It is suitable for use in environments with low temperatures (as low as 20°F / -6.67°C) and is insensitive to moisture during application.
Application Details
The material must be mixed thoroughly using a slow-speed mechanical mixer to avoid air entrapment. It is applied using a 10:1 ratio machine, squeegee, or notched trowel. Recommended thickness is 15 ± 2 mils for 295 and 14 ± 2 mils for 295OF per coat, with a maximum single application thickness of 23 mils (584 microns). Coverage is approximately 100 sqft/gallon. To ensure good intercoat adhesion, re-coating should be done within 8–12 hours. If more than 24 hours have elapsed between coats, re-priming with Polyprime U is required.
Special Notes
· Pot Life: 30 ± 10 minutes at 75°F (24°C), 50% RH.
· Cure Time: 2–4 hours for light pedestrian traffic; 48 hours for heavy pedestrian or vehicular traffic.
· UV Stability: UV stable (tested up to 2000 hours with no cracking or damage).
· Environmental Limits: Application is not recommended on split slabs, buried membranes, magnesite, or non-structural lightweight concrete.
· Storage: 1-year shelf life in sealed containers at 60–95°F (15–35°C).
· Limitations: Do not dilute. Surfaces must be clean, dry, and structurally sound. Open containers should be used promptly. Not for use on unvented metal pans or sandwich slabs.
· Hazards: Contains isocyanates and solvent. Side-B is classified as a Class 8 dangerous good by DOT standards.
