Description
The Poly-I-Gard™ 435/435SC Vehicular Traffic Deck System is a liquid-applied, high solids, moisture-cured waterproofing system. It is a user-friendly application that is specifically designed to be tough and durable enough to withstand vehicular traffic.
Material Use:
This is a high-solids, moisture-cured, liquid-applied waterproofing system specifically designed for vehicular traffic decks. It provides an elastomeric, seamless barrier that withstands structural movement, weather conditions, and chemical exposure.
System Components:
· Primer: Polyprime 2180SC or Polyprime EBF-LV
· Base Coat: PC-235 or PC-235SC
· Intermediate Coat (Optional for heavy traffic): Poly-I-Gard 246 or 246SC
· Top Coat: Polyglaze 100/100C/100SC or Polyglaze AL-50/50SC
· Crack treatment: PC-235/235SC mixed with PC-50 and reinforced with Straight Jacket Tape
Applications:
This system is suitable for vehicular decks, walkways, balconies, concrete roofs and decks over occupied spaces, and helicopter pads. It is especially well-suited for areas requiring long-lasting waterproofing under vehicular wear.
Application Details:
· Primer Application:
o Polyprime 2180SC: 1 gal/300 ft² (3 dry mils)
o Polyprime EBF-LV (for rough/porous surfaces): 1 gal/200 ft²
· Base Coat: PC-235/235SC applied at 1.5 gal/100 ft² (minimum 19 ± 2 dry mils)
· Intermediate Coat (Heavy traffic areas):
o Poly-I-Gard 246/246SC at 1 gal/100 ft² (min. 11 ± 2 dry mils), with 10 lbs/100 ft² 10–15 mesh sand broadcast
o Full surface coat: 1 gal/100 ft² (min. 12 ± 2 dry mils), with 20 mesh sand broadcast
· Topcoat: Polyglaze series applied at 1 gal/100 ft² (min. 12 ± 2 dry mils)
Special Notes:
· Cure Times:
o Light foot traffic: 24 hours
o Vehicular traffic: Minimum 72 hours
o Optional: Cure acceleration to 6–8 hours per coat using Polyglaze Hardener
· Pot Life: Mixed patching compound (PC-235/PC-50) has a working time of 20 minutes
· Recoating Window: Typically 8–12 hours; recoat within 24 hours if hardener is used
· Environmental Conditions:
o Installation temperature must be 5°F (3°C) above dew point
o Recommended ambient temperature: 75°F (24°C)
o Store between 60–95°F (15–35°C)
· Substrate Requirements:
o Concrete must be min. 3000 psi and cured for 28 days
o Substrate must be structurally sound and sloped to drain
o Not suitable for unvented metal pan decks, sandwich slabs, or asphalt unless pretreated with PC-IM 129
· UV Resistance: Topcoats like Polyglaze 100SC and AL-50SC are UV stable
· Thickness & Coverage:
o Total system thickness: 43 ± 5 dry mils (standard), 54 ± 5 dry mils (heavy traffic)
o Typical coat coverage: 1 gallon/100 ft² for each liquid component
