Description

Polycoat Staingard™ 7000 is a high solids, spray-applied, aliphatic polyaspartic polyurea with excellent retention, gloss and UV stability characteristics. It can be applied at a thickness of 8-12 mils (200-300 microns) in a single pass on horizontal surfaces or multiple passes on vertical surfaces.

Material Use:

Polycoat Staingard 7000 – A high solids, aliphatic polyaspartic polyurea topcoat, designed for UV-stable, durable surface protection. Available in clear, tan, white, dolphin grey, and custom colors (minimum 100 gallons required).

Staingard 7000 is used as a protective topcoat in environments requiring high chemical resistance, gloss retention, UV resistance, and durability. It is USDA-approved for incidental food contact and ideal for use in commercial, industrial, and marine environments.

System Components:

Polycoat Staingard 7000 is applied as a topcoat over aromatic polyurea, polyurethane, or epoxy base layers. When used in a coating system, it requires priming with Polyprime U if more than 12 hours have passed between coating stages. For pigmented finishes, the clear topcoat should be applied after the pigmented coat and not directly on primer to avoid discoloration.

Applications:

This material is suited for chemical plants, offshore oil platforms, cold storage areas, pipeline barges, food processing areas, fertilizer plants, pulp and paper mills, industrial warehouses, and surfaces like concrete, steel, plastic, and plywood.

Application Details:

·       Mix Ratio: 1A:1B (Side A and Side B premeasured, mix for 5 minutes)

·       Application Methods: Phenolic resin core roller, plural component high-pressure spray, or pressure pot.

·       Film Thickness: 8–12 mils per coat (min 5 mils), up to 15 ± 2 mils dry film thickness per pass.

·       Coverage: Approximately 1 gallon per 100 ft² (0.41 l/m²).

·       Pot Life: 25–30 minutes at 75°F (24°C) and 50% RH.

·       Curing: Initial set in 3–4 hours; light pedestrian traffic in 6 hours; full cure for heavy traffic in 24–48 hours.

·       Recoat Window: If >12 hours passes between coats, reprime with Polyprime U.

·       Mixing: No dilution allowed. Avoid whipping air into the mix. Use only what can be applied within 30 minutes.

Special Notes:

·       UV Resistance: Fully UV-resistant and color-stable, suitable for exterior applications.

·       Environmental Limits: Application temperature range: 60–95°F (15–35°C). High humidity or temperature accelerates curing.

·       Surface Prep: Concrete and masonry require SSPC-SP13/NACE 6 or ICRI CSP 3–5 with a primer. Metal requires SSPC-SP6/NACE 3 profile.

·       Storage: Shelf life of 1 year in unopened containers at 60–95°F.

·       Warnings: Contains isocyanates. Surface may become slippery when wet. Moisture exposure can cause clouding in clear coatings. Not suitable for split slabs, buried membranes, or unvented metal pans without testing.
