Description

Polycoat Staingard™ 7072 is an aliphatic, polyaspartic, environmentally-friendly surface topcoat for waterproofing membrane systems.

Material Use:

Staingard 7072 is an aliphatic, polyaspartic, polyurea waterproofing membrane topcoat designed for surface sealing in waterproofing systems. It is used as a durable, UV-resistant, high-gloss topcoat over various substrates such as concrete, steel, plywood, plastic, and more. It is particularly suitable for applications in cold storage areas, chemical and fertilizer plants, pulp and paper mills, and food processing environments.

System Components:

Staingard 7072 is typically used as the final topcoat in a system. If more than 12 hours pass after applying a clear polyaspartic coat, the surface should be re-primed with Polyprime U before applying the Staingard pigmented coat. A clear coat should be applied only after the pigmented layer, not directly over primer to avoid discoloration.

Applications:

This material is applicable in both indoor and outdoor waterproofing projects requiring chemical resistance, weatherability, and color stability. Suitable application tools include phenolic resin core rollers, high-pressure sprayers, or cup guns under low pressure.

Application Details:

·       Mix Ratio: 1A:1B by volume

·       Minimum Film Thickness: 5 mils (127 microns)

·       Typical Film Thickness: 12 ± 2 mils per coat

·       Coverage Rate: 1 gallon per 100 sqft (0.41 l/sqm)

·       Pot Life at 75°F (24°C), 50% RH: 25–30 minutes for clear coat, 45–60 minutes for pigmented

·       Curing Time at 75°F (24°C), 50% RH: 2–4 hours per coat; light pedestrian traffic after 6 hours, heavy pedestrian traffic after 24–48 hours

·       Full Cure Consideration: Cure rate varies with temperature and humidity; higher values accelerate cure

·       Application Temperature: Ambient conditions between 60–95°F (15–35°C) recommended

·       Priming: Primer required for concrete and masonry (recommended profile: ICRI No. 310.2 CSP 3-5); use Polyprime U when re-priming after clear coat delays

Special Notes:

·       The material is UV-resistant, ensuring gloss retention and color stability in exposed environments

·       It contains isocyanates and solvents, requiring safe handling and application by trained professionals

·       It should not be used on split slabs, buried membranes, sandwich slabs with insulation, or non-structural lightweight concrete without special approval

·       On-grade slabs require moisture-vapor testing prior to use

·       Clear coat can become opaque if exposed to moisture; caution advised in exterior use

·       Storage life is 1 year in factory-sealed containers under 60–95°F indoor conditions

·       Do not dilute under any circumstances. Opened containers should be used immediately to avoid waste
