Description
Polycoat Staingard™ 7072SC is an aliphatic, polyaspartic, environmentally-friendly surface topcoat for waterproofing membrane systems.
Material Use
Polycoat Staingard 7072SC is an aliphatic, polyaspartic, polyurea topcoat designed as a quick-curing, UV-resistant surface coat for waterproofing membrane systems. It serves as a high-gloss, abrasion-resistant, seamless coating suitable for environments requiring chemical resistance and long-term durability.
System Components
This material is used as a topcoat in a multi-layer waterproofing membrane system. When recoating or applying over a previously primed surface where more than 12 hours have elapsed, a re-prime with Polyprime U is required before applying the pigmented version of Staingard 7072SC. If a clear coat is required, it must always follow the pigmented coat to prevent discoloration of the primer layer.
Applications
· Concrete surfaces
· Cold storage areas
· Chemical and fertilizer plants
· Food processing facilities
· Industrial warehouses
· Offshore oil platforms
· Pipeline barges
· Steel and plastic substrates
· Pulp and paper mills
Application Details
· Mix Ratio: 1A:1B by volume
· Application Methods: Phenolic resin core roller, high-pressure spray, or cup gun under low pressure
· Minimum Film Thickness: 5 mils
· Typical Dry Film Thickness per Coat: 14 ± 2 mils
· Coverage Rate: Approx. 1 gallon per 100 sq ft
· Pot Life at 75°F (24°C), 50% RH: 25–30 minutes (Clear), 45–60 minutes (Pigmented)
· Curing Time:
o Initial cure: 2–4 hours
o Light foot traffic: after 6 hours
o Full cure/heavy foot traffic: 24–48 hours
· Mixing Instructions: Do not dilute; mix components separately and then combine Side-B into Side-A. Mix mechanically for at least 5 minutes, avoiding air entrapment.
Special Notes
· UV Resistance: Excellent UV resistance and color stability; clear topcoat provides superior gloss retention.
· Environmental Conditions:
o Ideal application temperature: 60–95°F (15–35°C)
o Sensitive to heat and humidity—these accelerate curing and may reduce working time.
o Low temperature and humidity will extend curing time.
· Limitations:
o Not suitable for split slabs, buried membranes, sandwich slabs with insulation, or unvented metal pans.
o On-grade slabs must be tested for moisture-vapor transmission.
o Clear coat may turn opaque if exposed to moisture.
o Open containers must be used promptly.
o Not for use over asphalt without technical consultation.
