Description
The Polydeck® 160/160SC Pedestrian Traffic Deck System is a liquid-applied, high-performance, polyurethane waterproofing system. The system utilizes an epoxy primer, one coat of a fast setting, chemically cured, two-component, polyurethane elastomeric basecoat with a rubber aggregate that can be applied at any thickness on concrete, plywood and metal surfaces, and one- or two-coats of an aliphatic polyurethane topcoat.
Material Use:
Polydeck 160/160SC is a high-performance, liquid-applied polyurethane waterproofing system designed for pedestrian traffic decks. It protects surfaces from spalling, freeze/thaw damage, and chemical exposure, while accommodating normal structural movement. Suitable substrates include concrete, plywood, and metal.
System Components:
This system consists of the following elements:
· Primer: Polyprime 2180SC or Polyprime EBF-LV
· Basecoat: PC-260 (two-component polyurethane elastomeric basecoat with optional sand or rubber aggregates)
· Topcoat: Polyglaze 100/100C/100SC, Polyglaze AR/AR-OF, or Polyglaze AL-50/AL-50SC
· Optional Additives: Polyglaze Hardener for fast curing
Applications:
Ideal for waterproofing and surfacing of:
· Balconies
· Patios
· Roof decks
· Sun decks
· Walkways
Application Details:
· Primer Application:
o Polyprime 2180SC: 1 gallon/300 ft² (4 dry mils)
o Polyprime EBF-LV: 1 gallon/200 ft² for porous concrete
· Basecoat Application (PC-260):
o Rubber Aggregate System: 3 gallons/100 ft² for 45 ± 2 dry mils
o Sand Aggregate Option: 2 coats totalling 45 ± 3 dry mils
· Aggregate:
o Rubber granules: 10 lbs/100 ft²
o Sand: 20 lbs/100 ft²
· Topcoat Application:
o First Coat: 1.25 gallons/100 ft² = 15 ± 2 dry mils
o Second Coat (recommended for warranty): 1 gallon/100 ft² = 12 ± 2 dry mils
· Total System Thickness:
o With sand aggregate: 60 ± 5 dry mils
o With rubber aggregate: 72 ± 5 dry mils
· Coverage Rates:
o PC-260: ~33 ft²/gallon (rubber) or 50 ft²/gallon (sand)
o Topcoat: ~80–100 ft²/gallon depending on layer
Special Notes:
· Primers Compatibility: Use Polyprime 2180SC for general surfaces and Polyprime EBF-LV for porous concrete or when outgassing is a concern.
· Basecoat and Primer Recoat Window: Within 12 hours. After this, surface must be solvent wiped and re-primed.
· Fast Cure Option: Polyglaze Hardener accelerates topcoat cure to 2–4 hours.
· Environmental Limits:
o Do not apply over unvented metal pans, magnesite, or concrete <3000 psi.
o Application should occur at least 5°F above the dew point.
· Material Shelf Life: 1 year in unopened containers at 60–95°F.
· UV Stability: Polyglaze topcoats are aliphatic polyurethane, indicating UV stability.
· Substrate Requirements: Structurally sound, trowel finished and sloped for drainage.
· Pot Life & Cure Times: Not explicitly stated for basecoat; topcoats cure in 2–4 hours with hardener or 8–12 hours normally. Full system adhesion test recommended after 7 days.
