Polyeuro® 5502 FG (Food Grade) is a fast setting, rapid curing, 100% solids, flexible, aromatic, two component spray polyurea that can be applied to suitably prepared concrete and metal surfaces. Polyeuro 5502 FG has an extremely fast gel time which makes it suitable for most polyurea installations.

Material Use

Polyeuro 5502 FG – Food Grade Two-Component Aromatic Polyurea Protective Coating

Polyeuro 5502 FG is a 100% solids, fast-setting, aromatic polyurea coating designed for protective applications on concrete and metal substrates. It is certified for dry solid food contact up to 104°F (NSF 51) and suited for both industrial and food processing environments. This coating provides a flexible, seamless barrier with high durability and excellent chemical resistance.

System Components

·       Polyeuro 5502 FG: Main polyurea topcoat

·       Primer/Base Options: Depending on substrate:

o   Concrete Repair/Base: PC-260 or Polyprime 21 (mixed with sand) for surface imperfections

o   Primer for Steel and Other Metals: Required; specific type not named, but recommended immediately after surface prep to prevent flash rust

o   Unprimed Steel Option: May be applied directly to carbon or mild steel without primer, depending on conditions

·       Color Packs: Optional for custom tinting; added to Part-B

Applications

·       Silos, dry food containers, dispensers

·       Cold storage and dry food storage facilities

·       Food processing and industrial manufacturing areas

·       Marine environments, secondary containment

·       Warehouse and pulp/paper mill floors

Application Details

·       Mix Ratio: 1:1 by volume (Side A: Isocyanate, Side B: Resin)

·       Pot Life: 4–8 seconds @ 150–160°F (65.5–71°C)

·       Tack-Free Time: 45–60 seconds

·       Recoat Time: 0–6 hours

·       Return to Service: Foot traffic in 1–4 hours; full service in >24 hours

·       Application Method: High-pressure (≥2000 psi), heated (≥150°F), plural-component spray system

·       Surface Temp Requirement: At least 5°F above dew point

·       Preconditioning: Material to be brought to 75–80°F before spraying

Coverage and Thickness

·       Theoretical Coverage: 1 mil = 1 gallon/1600 sq. ft.

·       Recommended Thickness: >2 mm

·       Wet Mils: Not directly stated, but implied based on application type

·       No maximum thickness limit stated, can be applied in multiple coats
