Description

Polyeuro® 5901 is a fast set, rapid curing, 100% solids, flexible, aromatic, two component spray polyurea that can be applied to suitably prepared concrete and metal surfaces.

Material Use:

Polyeuro 5901 is a two-component, 100% solids, fast-setting, flexible aromatic polyurea designed for use as a protective coating over concrete and metal surfaces. It is ideally suited for environments demanding chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, and rapid return to service, such as in industrial, marine, and containment settings.

System Components:

Polyeuro 5901 is applied as a standalone system or in combination with primers and surface repair agents. It consists of:

·       Side-A and Side-B components in a 1:1 volume ratio

·       Optional repair agents for surface preparation such as PC-260 or Polyprime 21 (with sand)

·       Topcoat option: For UV resistance and color stability, an aliphatic polyurethane or polyurea topcoat may be applied within 12 hours

Applications:

 Typical applications include:

·       Secondary containment

·       Cold-storage facilities

·       Food-processing plants

·       Parking-garage decks

·       Walkways and balconies

·       Marine environments

·       Structural steel

·       Water and wastewater treatment facilities

Application Details:

·       Pot Life: 3–5 seconds at 150°F (65.5°C)

·       Tack-Free Time: 60–120 seconds

·       Recoat Window: 0–6 hours

·       Recommended Spray Parameters: 1:1 plural component, heated high-pressure equipment at ≥2000 psi and ≥150°F (66°C)

·       Surface Temperature: Must be at least 5°F (3°C) above the dew point during application

·       Coverage Rate: 1 gallon covers 1600 ft² at 1 mil dry film thickness

o   Coverage formula: (1600 ft² per gal / dry mil thickness) x solids content = gal/ft²

·       Application Thickness: No specified minimum or maximum mil thickness—applied to desired performance requirements without sagging

·       UV Stability: Not UV-stable—will yellow/darken; topcoat recommended for UV resistance

Substrate Preparation Notes:

·       Concrete: Must be cured 28 days; shot-blasted to CSP 3–5. Must achieve pH 8.0–11.0. Use PC-260 or Polyprime 21 + sand for repair before priming.

·       Steel: SSPC-SP10/NACE 2 near-white blast; 3–4 mil profile; prime and apply same day to avoid rust.

·       Aluminum, brass, copper, stainless steel: Require specific abrasive techniques and degreasing before priming.

·       Plastic foams: No solvent-based primer on polystyrene. Mechanical abrasion recommended.

·       Textiles/fabrics: Usually no primer needed.

·       Adhesion testing recommended on unfamiliar surfaces.

Special Notes:

·       Storage: 1-year shelf life at 60–95°F (15–35°C), store off ground and above 60°F

·       VOC: Zero VOC, odorless

·       Safety: Contains isocyanates; use with desiccant device during use

·       Thermal Service Range:

o   Dry: -40°F to 250°F (-40°C to 121°C)

o   Wet: 40°F to 120°F (4.44°C to 48.89°C)
