Description
Polyeuro® LP-12 is a two component, 1:2, 100% solids, fast set, liquid applied, modified polyurea liner system for metal, concrete, fiberglass and wood surfaces.
Material Use:
Polyeuro LP-12 – Two-Component Modified Polyurea Protective Coating
Polyeuro LP-12 is a fast-setting, 100% solids, liquid-applied polyurea coating designed for protective applications over metal, concrete, fiberglass, and wood surfaces. It serves as a durable liner system offering chemical resistance, abrasion and impact resistance, and excellent flexibility at low temperatures. It is intended for both atmospheric and immersion exposure applications.
System Components:
Polyeuro LP-12 is used as part of a two-component system (Mix Ratio 1A:2B). It may be topcoated within 12 hours with an aliphatic polyurethane or polyurea coating to enhance UV resistance and maintain colorfastness, especially important due to its aromatic composition which tends to yellow under UV exposure. Primers such as Polyprime 21 or repair compounds like PC-260 (with sand) may be required based on substrate conditions.
Applications:
This coating is ideal for:
· Truck bed linings and utility vehicles
· Cargo holds and liners
· Waterproof decking and boat linings
· Horse trailers and fiberglass encapsulation
· Mold castings
Application Details:
· Surface Preparation: Surface must be clean, dry, and properly profiled. For concrete, follow ICRI CSP 3–5 profile. New concrete requires 28 days cure. Surface prep varies by substrate (e.g., sandblasting for metal and wood sanding).
· Mixing: Do not dilute. Thoroughly mix Side-B before application.
· Application Equipment: Plural component, low-pressure spray system with a 24-element static spiral mixer.
· Temperature Requirements: Precondition materials to 75–80°F (24–27°C). Surface temperature should be ≥5°F (3°C) above dew point.
· Pot Life: 12–16 seconds @ 75°F (24°C)
· Tack Free Time: 40–60 seconds (at 150 mils)
· Recoat Window: 6–12 hours
· Curing Time: Fast tack with full cure conditions not explicitly stated, but assumed within hours to a day due to polyurea fast-set chemistry.
· Coverage: 1 gallon covers approx. 1600 ft² per mil. Use this to calculate based on desired dry mil thickness.
· Thickness: Can be applied to any desired thickness, typically 80–150 mils depending on use case.
· UV Stability: Aromatic – not UV stable. Topcoating is required for UV resistance.
· Service Temperature: -20°F to 200°F (-29°C to 93°C)
· Hardness: 90 ± 3 Shore A
· Tensile Strength: 1300 ± 200 psi
· Elongation: 200% ± 50%
Special Notes:
· Do not open containers until ready to use; ensure desiccant devices are used during application to protect material integrity.
· Store in original sealed containers between 60–95°F (15–35°C); avoid freezing conditions.
· Not suitable for use on unprimed surfaces that are contaminated or inadequately prepared.
· This product contains isocyanates and curatives; handle with appropriate PPE and ventilation precautions.
