Description

Polyeuro® MPL-558 is a two component, 1:1, 100% solids, fast set, liquid applied, modified polyurea-liner system for metal, concrete, fiberglass and wood surfaces.

Material Use:

Polyeuro MPL-558 – Two Component Modified Polyurea Protective Coating

Polyeuro MPL-558 is a 100% solids, fast-set, liquid-applied polyurea system designed as a high-performance protective liner. It is ideal for use over metal, concrete, fiberglass, wood, and other structurally sound surfaces. Typical applications include boat linings, cargo holds and liners, containment areas, industrial floors, truck bed liners, utility vehicles, walkways, horse trailers, waterproof decking, and encapsulation of polystyrene foams and fiberglass structures.

System Components:

This is a plural-component system comprising Side-A and Side-B, mixed in a 1:1 volume ratio. Side-B may incorporate color packs when required. It may be top-coated within 12 hours using an aliphatic polyurethane, polyurea, or polyaspartic coating to achieve UV stability and colorfastness.

Applications:

Polyeuro MPL-558 is applied using high-pressure, heated plural-component spray equipment (e.g., Graco Reactor, Exp-2), at a minimum of 2000 psi and 150°F (66°C). Suitable substrates include new/old concrete (ICRI CSP 3-5), steel, aluminum, galvanized metal, fiberglass, wood, textiles, cast iron, and select plastics. Recommended primers include Polyprime 21 (with sand) or Polycoat PC-260 for repairing rough or deteriorated concrete surfaces.

Application Details:

·       Pot Life: 3–5 seconds at 150°F (65.5°C), 50% RH

·       Tack-Free Time: 20–30 seconds (at 150 mil thickness)

·       Recoat Window: 0–6 hours

·       Recommended Thickness: Not explicitly limited, but to calculate coverage, use:

o   1 mil = 1600 sq ft/gal (0.254 microns)

o   Coverage rate per gallon = (1600 sq ft / desired mils) × solids content

·       Application Temperature Range: Maintain substrate temperature at least 5°F (3°C) above dew point. Material should be preconditioned to 80–90°F (27–32°C).

Special Notes:

·       UV Exposure: Not UV stable on its own due to aromatic composition; will yellow or darken. For UV resistance and color retention, apply an aliphatic topcoat within 12 hours.

·       Environmental Limits: Avoid moisture or flash rusting during metal application. Apply on same day as surface prep.

·       Storage: 1-year shelf life when stored at 60–95°F (15–35°C) in sealed containers. Avoid freezing.

·       Mixing Restrictions: Do not dilute. Thorough mixing of Side-B required.

·       Cleaning: Clean equipment with urethane-grade, alcohol-free solvents.

·       Hazards: Contains isocyanates and curative material. Use PPE and ensure proper ventilation during application.
