Description
Polyeuro® MPL-80 is a two component, 1:1, 100% solids, fast set, liquid applied, modified polyurea liner system for metal, concrete, fiberglass and wood surfaces.
Material Use:
Polyeuro MPL-80 is a high-performance, fast-set, two-component modified polyurea protective coating designed for spray-on application. It is ideal for providing a tough, seamless, elastomeric protective liner on substrates such as metal, concrete, fiberglass, and wood. Typical end uses include truck bed liners, industrial floors, containment areas, waterproof decking, utility vehicles, and cargo surfaces.
System Components:
This system consists of two components mixed in a 1:1 volume ratio: Side-A (isocyanate) and Side-B (base/curative). The material is 100% solids and must be applied using plural-component, heated, high-pressure spray equipment such as the Graco Hydra Cat or Gusmer machines. The product may be used in systems that include a primer and optionally a UV-stable topcoat such as Polycoat’s Polyglaze 100, AL-50, or Staingard 7000 polyaspartic.
Applications:
Polyeuro MPL-80 is recommended for applications such as truck beds, utility and cargo vehicles, industrial and waterproof decking, boat linings, horse trailers, and protective encapsulations of fiberglass and polystyrene foams. It is particularly effective in high-wear environments requiring chemical, impact, and abrasion resistance.
Application Details:
Surface preparation is critical. For metal and painted surfaces (e.g., truck beds), sanding using 40-grit discs is required. For concrete, abrasive blasting to achieve CSP 4-5 per ICRI guidelines is recommended. The surface must be clean, dry, and free of dust or contaminants. A primer is advised for porous surfaces to address bug holes, voids, and laitance. Application should be conducted at material temperatures of 150–160°F (65–71°C) with preconditioning of materials to 75–80°F (24–27°C). Pot life at 150°F is 3–5 seconds with a tack-free time of 20–40 seconds at 150 mils. The recoat window is 0–12 hours.
Special Notes:
· Coverage & Thickness: Theoretical coverage is 1600 ft² per gallon at 1 mil (0.0254 mm) dry film thickness. Application rate must be calculated based on desired thickness.
· UV Resistance: As an aromatic polyurea, MPL-80 is not UV-stable and will yellow/darken with exposure. It should be topcoated with an aliphatic polyurethane or polyaspartic for UV stability and gloss.
· Environmental Limits: Apply only in dry conditions and at specified temperature ranges. Avoid freezing temperatures during storage. Store indoors at 60–95°F (15–35°C) with desiccant devices fitted to containers during use.
· Cure Profile: Fast set with very short pot life and rapid tack-free time enables quick return to service, ideal for high-throughput installations.
· Packaging: Available in 10-gallon (5 gal A + 5 gal B) and 100-gallon (50 gal A + 50 gal B) kits.
