Description

Polyeuro® MPL-85 Aluminum is a two component, 1:1, 100% solids, fast set, liquid applied, modified polyurea liner system for metal, concrete, fiberglass and wood surface.

Material Use:

Polyeuro MPL-85 Aluminum is a two-component, 1:1 ratio, 100% solids, fast-setting, liquid-applied modified polyurea protective liner system. It is primarily used as a protective coating for surfaces such as metal, concrete, fiberglass, and wood. It is particularly suited for areas requiring high abrasion and chemical resistance, such as secondary containment, flotation protection, and waterproofing.

System Components:

·       Side-A: Isocyanate component

·       Side-B: Curative resin

·       Both components must be used together using plural component high-pressure heated spray equipment (e.g., Graco Reactor or Glass Craft).

Applications:

·       Abrasion resistance over wood, metal, and concrete

·       Chemical resistance for Styrofoam flotation

·       Chemical-resistant membranes for tank farms (secondary containment)

·       Water and chemical protection for block and poured concrete walls

·       Waterproofing urethane foam roofing systems

Application Details:

·       Preconditioning: Materials should be preconditioned to 75–80°F (24–27°C)

·       Surface Temperature: Minimum 5°F (3°C) above the dew point

·       Spray Pressure: Minimum 2000 psi

·       Spray Temperature: 150°F (65°C) or higher

·       Application Technique: Multidirectional smooth passes to achieve uniformity

·       Recoat Window: 0 to 12 hours

·       Pot Life: 3–5 seconds at 150–160°F

·       Tack-Free Time: 20–40 seconds at 150 mils

Thickness and Coverage:

·       Can be applied at any desired thickness

·       Theoretical coverage at 1 mil (0.254 microns): 1 gallon covers 1600 ft²

·       Estimating Formula: (1600 ft² per gal / dry mil thickness) × solids content = application rate per gallon

Environmental & Performance Limitations:

·       Service Temperature Range: -40°F to 250°F (-40°C to 121°C)

·       UV Stability: Due to aromatic composition, the material may yellow or darken when exposed to UV; recommend topcoating with an aliphatic polyurethane or polyurea for UV stability and colorfastness

·       Storage: 60–95°F (15–35°C), avoid freezing; rotate drums periodically if stored for extended periods

·       Shelf Life: 1 year from manufacturing date in sealed containers

Special Notes:

·       Not UV stable without topcoat—must be coated within 12 hours for a UV-resistant finish

·       Should not be diluted under any condition

·       Requires strict surface preparation—free of dust, dirt, oil, rust, and contaminants

·       Contains isocyanates and curatives; use appropriate PPE and ventilation

·       Equipment used can influence physical performance—testing is recommended for each unique application
