Description
Polyeuro® MPL-90 is a two component, 1:1, 100% solids, fast set, liquid applied, modified polyurea liner system for metal, concrete, fiberglass and wood surfaces.
Material Use:
Polyeuro MPL-90 – a two-component, 1:1 ratio, 100% solids, fast-set, modified polyurea protective coating.
Polyeuro MPL-90 is primarily used as a high-performance liner or protective coating for metal, concrete, fiberglass, and wood surfaces. It is commonly applied in environments requiring toughness, flexibility, and rapid cure time, such as cargo liners, boat linings, horse trailers, walkways, waterproof decking, and encapsulation of fiberglass bodies and polystyrene foams.
System Components:
The system consists of a Side-A (Isocyanate) and a Side-B (Base/Curative) that are mixed in a 1:1 volume ratio using high-pressure heated plural-component spray equipment. For topcoating, MPL Topcoat, an aliphatic polyurethane, can be applied for a UV-stable, color-fast glossy finish.
Applications:
The coating is suitable for both horizontal and vertical surfaces in areas demanding high abrasion resistance, chemical resistance, and waterproofing capabilities. It forms a seamless, elastomeric, high-build membrane, making it ideal for vehicular, marine, and industrial use cases.
Application Details:
· Surface Preparation: Surfaces must be clean and properly profiled; for concrete, abrasive blasting to achieve a 1.5–3 mil anchor profile is recommended. Use of primer is strongly advised to treat voids, bug holes, or cracks. Fiberglass mesh or geotextile cloth may be embedded to bridge cracks over the primed surface.
· Application Equipment: Heated plural-component high-pressure spray equipment (e.g., Graco Hydra Cat or Gusmer) is required.
· Spray Conditions: Materials should be preconditioned to 75–80°F. Spray pressures must remain between 2200–2500 psi with material temperatures above 150°F during application.
Special Notes:
· Pot Life: Extremely short; approximately 2–4 seconds.
· Tack-Free Time: 20–30 seconds at 150 mils thickness.
· Recoat Window: 0 to 6 hours.
· Curing: Although tack-free rapidly, full mechanical properties develop after curing.
· Temperature Range for Use: -20°F to 250°F service temperature.
· UV Resistance: Not UV stable – the aromatic composition will yellow or darken under UV exposure. A UV-stable topcoat (e.g., MPL Topcoat) is recommended if UV exposure is anticipated.
· Coverage: Theoretical coverage is 1600 sq. ft. per gallon at 1 mil wet film thickness.
· Viscosity: 120 ± 30 cps (Side A), 100 ± 30 cps (Side B) at 150–160°F.
· Hardness: 90 ± 5 Shore A; Tensile Strength: 4500 ± 500 psi; Elongation: 325% ± 50%; Tear Strength: 300 ± 50 pli.
· Storage: One-year shelf life in original sealed containers. Protect from freezing. Rotate drums during long-term storage.
