Description
Polyglaze® AR/Poly-I-Gard™ 246 Catalyst is a single component, proprietary, liquid organometallic catalyst that reduces the cold weather cure time of Polyglaze® AR or Poly-I-Gard™ 246.
Material Use:
Polyglaze AR/Poly-I-Gard 246 Catalyst is a single-component, proprietary liquid organometallic catalyst specifically designed to accelerate the cold-weather curing process of Polyglaze AR and Poly-I-Gard 246 topcoat systems. It is suitable for use in temperatures as low as 40–50°F (4.4–10°C), making it ideal for projects facing lower environmental temperatures.
System Components:
This catalyst is used as an additive in the Polyglaze AR and Poly-I-Gard 246 coating systems. It is not a standalone system but functions as an enhancement to the primary polyurethane-based topcoat membranes. Notably, PC-550 Catalyst is separately used for PC-550SC systems and should not be interchanged.
Applications:
· Parking decks and vehicular traffic coatings requiring cold-weather installation.
· Exposed decks or surfaces needing accelerated cure times at low temperatures.
Application Details:
· Mixing: Must be blended mechanically (e.g., Jiffy Mixer) until homogenous, or mixed by hand for a minimum of 5 minutes.
· Packaging: Available in 0.7 oz (20 g) vials or 1 quart (0.95 liter) cans.
· Cleanup: Tools should be cleaned with an environmentally safe solvent immediately after use.
· Storage: Shelf life of 1 year in unopened containers stored at 60–95°F (15–35°C).
Special Notes:
· This catalyst must only be used in cold conditions. Its use in warm conditions may negatively affect membrane properties.

· Do not exceed recommended dosage, as this can lead to foaming and physical property degradation of the coating.
· Once opened, containers should be used promptly.
· Do not dilute under any circumstance.
· The product contains curatives and should be handled according to local environmental and safety regulations.
Environmental and Physical Limits:
· Temperature Range (Application): 40–50°F (4.4–10°C) minimum application temperature.
· Specific Gravity: 1.008 ± 0.05
· Viscosity: 100 ± 50 cps at 75°F (24°C)
· VOC Content: 0 lb/gal (0 g/l) – complies with strict VOC regulations.
· Solids: 100% by weight and volume
UV Resistance:
As a catalyst, Polyglaze AR/Poly-I-Gard 246 Catalyst does not itself provide UV protection, but it is used in conjunction with UV-stable topcoats such as Polyglaze AR.
