Description

Polyglaze® AR/AR-OF is an aromatic, one component, liquid applied, moisture cured, polyurethane coating. Polycoat Products manufactures products in different VOC’s ranging from 100 to 340 gms/liter to comply with VOC requirements in various regions.

Material Use:

Polyglaze AR and AR-OF are aromatic, one-component, liquid-applied, moisture-cured polyurethane topcoats. They are primarily used as final seal coats in traffic coating systems for both pedestrian and vehicular surfaces. These coatings offer good weatherability, elastomeric properties, and are designed for re-sealing existing polyurethane surfaces or as part of new protective systems over concrete, wood, metal, rubber, and masonry.

System Components:

·       Primer (Base Preparation):

o   Use Polyprime 21 when applying Polyglaze AR/AR-OF as a seal coat on bare substrates.

o   Use Polyprime U when re-coating after 48 hours to ensure adhesion.

·       Catalyst: A catalyst must be mixed into Polyglaze AR/AR-OF before application.

·       Hardener (Optional): Polyglaze Hardener can be added for accelerated curing.

Applications:

·       Protective topcoat over pedestrian and vehicular traffic areas

·       Ideal for concrete decks, plywood, wood, metal, rubber, and masonry

·       Suitable for resealing existing polyurethane coatings

·       Applicable in commercial and industrial floor systems

Application Details:

·       Coverage: Approx. 1 gallon per 100 sq.ft. (0.41 l/m²)

·       Dry Film Thickness:

o   Polyglaze AR: 12 ± 2 mils

o   Polyglaze AR-OF: 14 ± 2 mils

·       Mixing: Mix mechanically at slow speed with catalyst until homogeneous. Do not whip air into the material.

·       Tools: Squeegee is preferred; airless sprayer or phenolic roller can be used with care to avoid air bubbles.

·       Recoating Window: Within 48 hours; otherwise, solvent wipe and re-prime.

·       Accelerated Cure Option: Add 1 quart of Polyglaze Hardener to 5 gallons of material for 6–8 hour cure at 75°F and 50% RH.

Special Notes:

·       Pot Life: Not explicitly mentioned; batch sizes and temperature affect usable time post-mixing.

·       Curing Time: 16 hours per coat at 75°F and 50% RH; full cure for heavy traffic in 72 hours.

·       Temperature & Humidity Limits: Apply between 60–95°F (15–35°C). High humidity or temperature accelerates curing; low conditions delay it.

·       Shelf Life: 1 year in factory-sealed containers stored properly.

·       UV Stability: Not UV stable – being aromatic, this product is not colorfast under UV exposure and may chalk or fade.

·       VOC Content:

o   Polyglaze AR: 2.03 lb/gal (243 g/L)

o   Polyglaze AR-OF: 0.74 lb/gal (89 g/L)

·       Limitations: Not to be used on split slabs, buried membranes, non-vented metal pans, magnesite, or non-structural lightweight concrete. Not suitable for asphalt without consulting the manufacturer.

·       Safety: Contains isocyanates and solvent; professional application required.
