Description

Non-Sag, Long Pot Life, Structural Epoxy Adhesive

Material Use

ProGuard Bonder Paste LP is a non-sag, long pot life, structural epoxy adhesive designed for structural and non-structural load-bearing applications on vertical, horizontal, and overhead surfaces. It is especially suited for bonding hardened-to-hardened or plastic-to-hardened concrete, masonry, stone, and steel. The material is also applicable for anchoring bolts, dowels, and rebar, and may be used as a surface seal in pressure injection crack repair systems.

System Components

This is a two-component system comprising:

·      Part A: Liquid epoxy resin (white)

·      Part B: Epoxy hardener (black)

When mixed in a 1:1 ratio by volume, the resulting material is a blue-gray epoxy paste.

Applications

·      Bonding concrete, masonry, stone, and steel

·      Grouting anchor bolts, dowels, and rebar

·      Overhead, vertical, and horizontal installations

·      Surface sealing for crack repair

·      External reinforcement bonding with steel plates

Application Details

·      Mix Ratio: 1:1 by volume (100:131 by weight)

·      Gel Time (60g sample):

o   100 min at 50°F (10°C)

o   70 min at 73°F (23°C)

o   20 min at 105°F (41°C)

·      Minimum Application Temperature: 40°F (4°C)

·      Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT): 130°F (55.4°C)

·      Non-sag Application: Maintains thickness up to 1/4" (6.35 mm)

·      Coverage for Anchoring: Approx. 40% of hole volume

·      Installation Method: Trowel application, caulking gun for anchoring, or plural component pump for high-volume use

·      Cure Schedule for Testing: 7 days at 73°F (23°C)

·      Substrate Preparation:

o   Concrete: ICRI CSP 2 to 4; minimum tensile strength of 250 psi per ASTM C1583

o   Steel: Clean to “white metal” per SSPC-SP 5/NACE No. 1

Special Notes

·      UV Stability: Not UV stable – use in covered or protected environments

·      Pot Life Sensitivity: Adjust application quantities based on pot life at site temperature

·      Chemical Resistance: High resistance to acids, bases, fuels, and cutting oils (verify against specific chemicals with manufacturer)

·      Storage: 3-year shelf life in original, unopened containers stored at 60°F–90°F (16°C–32°C)

·      Environmental & Safety: No VOC solvents; handle with care due to hazardous epoxy components (see SDS for details)

·      Limitations: Do not add solvents; suitability of resin-containing concrete must be pre-tested; not to be exposed to sustained high shear at temps near HDT
