Description
Single-component polyurethane foam. Indoor and outdoor use. It provides airtight insulation. Its naphthalene scent repels mice, birds, bats, squirrels, ants, cockroaches, spiders, and bees. Ideal for garages, attics, basements, and more.
UNITS PER SKID: 960
Material Use:
SOPRA-FOAM PESTBLOCK is a single-component polyurethane foam designed for both interior and exterior use. It is primarily used for filling and insulating holes, cracks, and joints up to 25 mm (1 inch) in width. The foam includes an olfactory repellent that deters pests such as mice, birds, bats, squirrels, ants, cockroaches, spiders, and bees. It is ideal for sealing gaps in garages, attics, crawl spaces, basements, under sinks, and around pipe or electrical penetrations to prevent pest infiltration and air drafts.
System Components:
This product is a standalone system and does not require additional primers or base coats. However, for cleaning uncured foam, SOPRA-FOAM CL-F cleaner is recommended. Once cured, the foam must be removed manually if necessary.
Applications:
SOPRA-FOAM PESTBLOCK adheres well to a variety of common construction substrates including vinyl, wood, metal, polystyrene, and polyisocyanurate. It is also compatible with SOPREMA’s SOPRASEAL membranes and RESISTO’s smooth-surface membranes, such as those used around doors and windows. It is suitable for use in both residential and commercial construction settings where pest control and insulation are required.
Application Details:
Before application, surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants such as oil, grease, dust, and loose particles. Porous surfaces should be moistened with water to aid in curing. The foam is applied using a 400 ml straw cartridge, which should be shaken before and intermittently during use. The foam should be applied in layers no thicker than 25 mm (1 inch) to allow for proper expansion and curing. In dry conditions, multiple thin layers are recommended. Water can be sprayed on the foam to accelerate curing. For outdoor applications, the foam should be painted or covered to protect it from UV degradation. The foam can be sanded, painted, or stained after 24 hours.
Special Notes:
- Temperature Range for Application: -5 °C to 30 °C (23 °F to 86 °F). For optimal performance, condition the cartridge to approximately 20 °C (68 °F) for 12 hours prior to use.
- Service Temperature Range (after cure): -40 °C to 80 °C (-40 °F to 176 °F).
- Tack-Free Time: Approximately 7 ± 3 minutes (at 23 °C and 50% RH).
- Trim Time: 30–45 minutes.
- Full Cure Time: 24 hours.
- UV Resistance: Not UV stable. Cured foam must be protected from UV exposure to maintain performance.
- Thickness Limit: Maximum application thickness per layer is 25 mm (1 inch).
- Coverage/Yield: Approximately 14 L per gallon. Actual yield may vary depending on application technique, surface roughness, temperature, and humidity.
- Storage: Store upright in original, unopened packaging in a dry area between 5 °C and 25 °C (41 °F to 77 °F). Shelf life is 18 months from the date of manufacture.
- Cleaning: Use SOPRA-FOAM CL-F cleaner for uncured foam. Cured foam must be removed manually.
SOPRA-FOAM PESTBLOCK is a practical and effective solution for pest control and insulation in construction applications, offering ease of use, good adhesion to a variety of substrates, and reliable performance when applied within the recommended environmental conditions.
