Material Use:
SOPRA-ISO SL is a high-performance polyisocyanurate thermal insulation board designed for use in roofing systems. It provides excellent thermal resistance and is primarily used as a thermal insulation layer in SOPREMA roofing assemblies. The board features shiplap edges on all four sides to ensure tight joints and minimize thermal bridging.
System Components:
SOPRA-ISO SL is composed of a closed-cell polyisocyanurate foam core sandwiched between organic facers reinforced with glass fibres. It is available in two standard board sizes: 1.2 x 1.2 m (47.4 x 47.4 in) and 1.2 x 2.4 m (47.4 x 96 in), with thicknesses ranging from 76.2 mm to 152.4 mm (3 to 6 in). The insulation board is typically used in combination with SOPREMA DUOTACK adhesives, hot bitumen, or mechanical fasteners, depending on the installation method and board size.
Applications:
SOPRA-ISO SL is used in commercial and industrial roofing systems as a thermal insulation layer. It is suitable for use over wood and metal decks and is compatible with SOPREMA roofing membranes when installed with appropriate support panels or fastening methods. It meets the requirements of ASTM C1289 and CAN/ULC S704 standards for polyisocyanurate insulation.
Application Details:
SOPRA-ISO SL can be installed using three primary methods:
- Mechanically Fastened: Suitable for both board sizes (1.2 x 1.2 m and 1.2 x 2.4 m) over wood decks only.
- Adhered with Hot Bitumen: Only the 1.2 x 1.2 m board size is permitted. Bitumen must be applied at a temperature 28 °C (50 °F) below its Equiviscous Temperature (EVT).
- Adhered with DUOTACK Adhesive: Only the 1.2 x 1.2 m board size is permitted.
Special Notes:
- Compatibility: Waterproofing membranes must not be installed directly over SOPRA-ISO SL unless they are mechanically fastened. A support panel is required for adhered membranes.
- Environmental Conditions: The service temperature range for SOPRA-ISO SL is from -73 °C to 122 °C (-100 °F to 250 °F).
- Storage: Boards must be stored flat, off the ground (minimum 75 mm or 3 in), and protected from weather. Temporary packaging must be removed to avoid condensation buildup.
- Certifications: SOPRA-ISO SL is GREENGUARD GOLD certified, ensuring low chemical emissions for indoor air quality.
- Thermal Performance: The board offers high thermal resistance, with R-values ranging from R-20.5 (3.60 RSI) at 88.9 mm thickness to R-35.7 (6.29 RSI) at 152.4 mm thickness.
- Mechanical Properties: Available in compressive strengths of 20 psi (138 kPa) and 25 psi (172 kPa), with low water absorption and good dimensional stability.
