SOPRAFLOW ALU TEMPO is a temporary aluminum roof drain designed for use during the construction phase of new low-slope roofing systems. Its primary function is to collect and evacuate rainwater from the roof surface before the permanent drainage system is installed, ensuring water management and protection of the roofing assembly during construction.
System Components:
The SOPRAFLOW ALU TEMPO system consists of the following components:
- Aluminum drain body with a flat plate and vertical drain rod
- Compatible sealant such as SOPRAMASTIC or Chem Link M-1 for adhesion
- Screws for mechanical fastening
- Primer (type depends on the waterproofing membrane used)
Applications:
This product is used in commercial and industrial roofing projects where temporary drainage is required during the construction of low-slope roofs. It is particularly useful in climates or seasons where rainfall may occur before the final waterproofing and drainage systems are completed.
Application Details:
Installation involves several key steps:
1. Inspect and prepare the drain by removing sharp edges and cutting the drain rod to the required length.
2. Clean both sides of the drain plate with a non-greasy solvent.
3. Prime the top of the drain plate using a primer compatible with the waterproofing membrane (refer to the membrane’s TDS for primer selection).
4. Apply a bead of SOPRAMASTIC or Chem Link M-1 under the drain plate.
5. Position the drain and press firmly to ensure full contact with the substrate.
6. Secure the drain with eight perimeter screws.
7. Complete waterproofing around the drain according to SOPREMA’s standard details.
Special Notes:
- SOPRAFLOW ALU TEMPO is a temporary solution and should be replaced or integrated with the permanent drainage system as the roofing system is finalized.
- The drain is made of aluminum, with a height of 40.64 cm (16"), a plate diameter of 45.72 cm (18"), and a thickness of approximately 2.03 mm (0.08").
- Two drain rod diameters are available: T-2 5/8 (6.66 cm / 2 5/8") and T-3 5/8 (9.20 cm / 3 5/8").
- Each unit weighs approximately 0.68 kg (1.5 lb), and 48 units are packaged per pallet.
- The primer used must be compatible with the waterproofing membrane being installed; consult the membrane’s technical data sheet for specific primer recommendations.
- This product does not have a pot life, curing time, or UV resistance rating, as it is a mechanical component rather than a chemical or liquid-applied material.
- Environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity are not critical for the installation of this mechanical component, but proper adhesion of sealants and primers may be affected by such conditions—refer to the sealant and primer TDS for those limitations.
This product is part of a temporary drainage system and should be used in conjunction with SOPREMA waterproofing membranes and accessories for optimal performance during the construction phase.
