Description

Non-fibrous bitumen coating applied with a brush or a roller.

UNITS PER SKID: 36

Material Use:

SOPRALASTIC 120 is a bitumen-based, non-fibrated protective coating designed for use on roofs and foundation walls. It is primarily used to revitalize existing asphalt or metal roofing systems and to provide dampproofing protection for foundation walls. Its formulation allows it to resist water, salts, calcium chloride, and mild acid or alkaline solutions, making it suitable for a variety of protective applications in construction.

System Components:

SOPRALASTIC 120 is typically used as a standalone coating but can be part of a system when surface preparation or crack filling is required. In such cases, SOPRALASTIC 110 is recommended to fill surface irregularities such as form ties before applying SOPRALASTIC 120. The system must be completed with a mineral protection layer over SOPRALASTIC 120, as it is not UV stable and must not be left exposed.

Applications:

This product is suitable for use on metal and asphalt roofing surfaces, as well as on concrete foundation walls for dampproofing. It is ideal for maintenance and restoration of existing roofing systems and for below-grade waterproofing where a protective coating is required.

Application Details:

SOPRALASTIC 120 can be applied using a brush, roller, or spray equipment to form a continuous film. The surface must be clean, dry, and free of oil, grease, dirt, and loose materials. Concrete surfaces should be sound and free of cracks or irregularities. If needed, SOPRALASTIC 110 should be used to fill surface defects before application. The product should be applied at a rate of approximately 0.5 to 0.7 L/m² (1.2 to 1.7 US gal/100 ft²). If multiple coats are required, each coat must be allowed to dry completely before the next is applied.

Special Notes:

- Primers and Surface Prep: SOPRALASTIC 110 is used to fill surface irregularities prior to application of SOPRALASTIC 120.

- Environmental Conditions: Application temperature for the product should be between 10 °C and 35 °C (50 °F to 95 °F), and the surface temperature should be between -5 °C and 35 °C (23 °F to 95 °F).

- Drying Time: Varies from 1 to 8 hours depending on ambient temperature and thickness of application.

- Curing and Protection: SOPRALASTIC 120 must be completely dry before backfilling or allowing foot traffic. It must be covered with a mineral protection layer and should not be exposed to UV, oils, or solvents.

- Service Temperature: The cured product can withstand service temperatures up to 70 °C (158 °F).

- Coverage: Approximately 1.2 to 1.7 US gallons per 100 ft².

- Storage and Handling: Store in a cool, dry place above freezing. Shelf life is up to 36 months in original sealed containers. The product is flammable and should be used in well-ventilated areas away from open flames. Clean tools with petroleum solvents such as mineral spirits or xylene.

SOPRALASTIC 120 is a reliable and durable solution for dampproofing and roof restoration when used in accordance with its technical guidelines and in combination with appropriate surface preparation and protective top layers.
