Description
Precast blocks made of polyester resin used in the SOPRAMASTIC BLOCK system for details and penetrations.
UNITS PER SKID:
2" and 6" - 60
5" and 7.5" - 48
12" - 88
Material Use:
SOPRAMASTIC BLOCK is a prefabricated waterproofing accessory made from polyester resin, designed to facilitate and enhance the sealing of complex roofing details, particularly around penetrations. It serves as a containment and support structure for SOPRAMASTIC SP2 sealant and SOPRAMASTIC PF sealing compound, ensuring a durable and watertight seal in roofing systems.
System Components:
The SOPRAMASTIC BLOCK system is composed of the following elements:
- SOPRAMASTIC BLOCK: Prefabricated polyester resin blocks available in various shapes and sizes (round, straight, and corner configurations).
- SOPRAMASTIC SP2: A sealant and adhesive used to bond the blocks to the roofing membrane and seal around penetrations.
- SOPRAMASTIC PF: A sealing mastic used to fill the interior of the block configuration on horizontal surfaces.
Applications:
This system is specifically designed for use in roofing applications, particularly with modified bitumen membranes (SBS granulated or sanded), organic felts, and oxidized bitumen membranes such as SOPRAGLASS 100. It is ideal for sealing around roof penetrations such as pipes, conduits, and other technical details that are difficult to waterproof using standard methods. SOPRAMASTIC BLOCK can be installed on both horizontal and vertical surfaces.
Application Details:
- Surface Preparation: All surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants. Metal and PVC surfaces should be cleaned with non-greasy solvents like acetone or MEK.
- Installation:
- Position the SOPRAMASTIC BLOCK and trace its outline.
- Ensure a minimum 25 mm (1 in) gap between the block’s inner wall and the penetration.
- Apply SOPRAMASTIC SP2 sealant around the base of the penetration and at least 25 mm (1 in) above the block height.
- Apply a 6 mm (1/4 in) bead of SOPRAMASTIC SP2 under and at the ends of the block, then press the block into place until sealant overflows.
- Seal joints and perimeter with SOPRAMASTIC SP2 and trowel it into the membrane.
- Fill the interior of the block with SOPRAMASTIC PF (horizontal) or SOPRAMASTIC SP2 (vertical).
Special Notes:
- Temperature Limitations: SOPRAMASTIC BLOCK should not be exposed to temperatures above 60 °C (140 °F) for extended periods.
- UV Resistance: The polyester resin surface is white and designed for roofing applications, but UV stability is not explicitly stated; additional UV protection may be required depending on exposure.
- Storage: Store flat to prevent deformation.
- Cleaning: Tools can be cleaned with mineral spirits, Varsol, or xylene.
- Compatibility: Designed for use with SOPREMA roofing systems, particularly SBS-modified bitumen membranes.
This system provides a reliable and efficient method for waterproofing complex roof penetrations, ensuring long-term performance when installed according to SOPREMA guidelines.
