SOPRAPLY STICK DUO is a self-adhesive SBS-modified bitumen base sheet membrane designed for use in waterproofing systems, particularly for roofing applications. It serves as a base layer in multi-ply roofing systems and is engineered to provide excellent adhesion, flexibility, and durability under various environmental conditions.
System Components:
SOPRAPLY STICK DUO is typically used as part of a multi-layer SBS-modified bitumen roofing system. It is installed over a primed substrate using ELASTOCOL STICK primers, which are essential for proper adhesion. The membrane features DUO SELVEDGE technology, which facilitates immediate sealing of side laps. For end laps, ELASTOCOL STICK primer must be applied to ensure proper bonding. The final sealing of side laps is completed using an electric hot-air welder and a membrane roller. SOPRAPLY STICK DUO is compatible with other SOPREMA SBS-modified bitumen membranes used as cap sheets or protective top layers.
Applications:
This membrane is ideal for use in commercial and industrial roofing systems where a durable, self-adhesive base sheet is required. It is suitable for both new construction and re-roofing projects. SOPRAPLY STICK DUO is particularly effective in applications where torching is not permitted or practical, such as on combustible substrates or in sensitive environments.
Application Details:
- Surface Preparation: Substrates must be clean, dry, and free of loose particles. A primer such as ELASTOCOL STICK must be applied before membrane installation.
- Installation Method: The membrane is installed by removing the silicone release film and pressing the membrane into place. A membrane roller is used to ensure full adhesion.
- Side and End Laps: DUO SELVEDGE technology allows for immediate sealing of side laps. End laps require priming with ELASTOCOL STICK and welding of the final 25 mm (1 in) using a hot-air welder.
- Minimum Application Temperature: 0 °C (32 °F)
- Thickness: Minimum 3.0 mm (118 mils) before heat conditioning; 1.8 mm (70 mils) after heat conditioning
- Dimensions: 10 m x 1 m (33 ft x 3.3 ft)
- Selvedge Width: 100 mm (4 in)
- Surface Finish: Sanded
- Underface: Self-adhesive with silicone release film
Special Notes:
- Environmental Conditions: Installation should not be performed below 0 °C (32 °F). Ensure dry conditions to avoid adhesion issues.
- UV Resistance: SOPRAPLY STICK DUO is not UV stable and must be covered with a UV-resistant cap sheet or protective layer.
- Storage: Rolls must be stored upright with the selvedge side on top. If stored outdoors, they must be protected with an opaque cover.
- Performance Characteristics: The membrane exhibits excellent low-temperature flexibility (-27 °C / -17 °F), high puncture resistance, and low water vapor transmission (< 2.5 ng/Pa•s•m²).
- Compatibility: Must be used with ELASTOCOL STICK primers and is compatible with other SOPREMA SBS-modified membranes for complete system integration.
