Description

SOPRAPLY TRAFFIC CAP PLUS G/P 4.

UNITS PER SKID: 30

Material Use:

SOPRAPLY TRAFFIC CAP and its fire-resistant variant, SOPRAPLY TRAFFIC CAP FR, are high-performance SBS-modified bitumen cap sheet membranes designed for use in roofing systems. These membranes serve as the top layer in multi-ply roofing assemblies, providing enhanced durability, waterproofing, and resistance to mechanical stress and environmental exposure. The FR version offers improved fire resistance for applications requiring compliance with stricter fire safety standards.

System Components:

SOPRAPLY TRAFFIC CAP is typically used as the final cap sheet in a multi-layer SBS-modified bitumen roofing system. It is installed over a compatible base sheet such as SOPRAPLY BASE or other SOPREMA SBS base membranes. The system may also include a primer (such as ELASTOCOL STICK or ELASTOCOL 500) applied to the substrate to enhance adhesion, especially on concrete or metal decks. The underface of the cap sheet is covered with a thermofusible plastic film, allowing for heat-welded installation using a propane torch.

Applications:

This membrane is suitable for use in commercial, industrial, and institutional flat or low-slope roofing systems where high durability and traffic resistance are required. It is ideal for roofs that may be subject to occasional foot traffic for maintenance or inspection purposes. The FR version is recommended for buildings where fire resistance is a critical requirement.

Application Details:

SOPRAPLY TRAFFIC CAP and TRAFFIC CAP FR are installed by heat-welding with a propane torch. The membrane is supplied in rolls measuring 8 m x 1 m (26 ft x 3.3 ft) with a 75 mm (3 in) selvedge for overlapping. The surface is finished with coloured granules, and the underface is protected by a thermofusible film that melts during torching to bond the membrane to the substrate or base sheet. The minimum membrane thickness is 4.0 mm (157 mils) before heat conditioning and 2.8 mm (110 mils) after. The back surface coating thickness is at least 1.0 mm (40 mils). Installation should be performed in dry conditions and within the temperature range suitable for torch application, typically above 0 °C (32 °F). The product demonstrates excellent flexibility at low temperatures down to -18 °C (-0.4 °F) and maintains compound stability up to 121 °C (250 °F).

Special Notes:

- SOPRAPLY TRAFFIC CAP is not UV-stable in the traditional sense but is protected by coloured granules that provide UV resistance.

- The product must be stored upright with the selvedge side on top and protected from direct sunlight and weather exposure if stored outdoors.

- The membrane complies with CSA A123.23 Type C, Grade 1 standards and has been tested for puncture resistance, dimensional stability, and granule embedment.

- Fire classification should be verified in the UL Canada directory under listing TGFUC.R19921 for specific system approvals.

- This membrane is not a standalone waterproofing solution and must be used as part of a complete SOPREMA SBS-modified bitumen roofing system.

- No specific pot life or curing time applies, as this is a torch-applied membrane and is bonded upon installation.

This product is best suited for high-performance roofing systems requiring durability, fire resistance (FR version), and resistance to foot traffic, and should be installed by trained professionals familiar with torch-applied roofing systems.
