Description

Rigid mineral wool (stone wool) cant with a lightly sanded bitumen surface.

Material Use:

SOPRAROCK CANTS is a rigid mineral wool (stone wool) cant strip designed for use in roofing systems. It is primarily used to create smooth 45° transitions between horizontal and vertical surfaces on roofs, enhancing membrane performance and durability at critical junctions. The product is composed of basalt rock and steel slag, giving it excellent fire-resistant properties and dimensional stability.

System Components:

SOPRAROCK CANTS is typically used in conjunction with SEBS hot bitumen or oxidized bitumen for installation. It can also be adhered using DUOTACK adhesives, making it compatible with a variety of roofing systems. While it is not a complete waterproofing or insulation system on its own, it functions as a critical accessory component in built-up roofing (BUR), modified bitumen, and other membrane-based roofing systems.

Applications:

This product is used around insulated curbs for rooftop mechanical units, skylights, roof-to-wall junctions, control and expansion joints, parapets, and other roof penetrations requiring a cant transition. It is suitable for commercial and industrial flat or low-slope roofing systems where membrane continuity and support at transitions are essential.

Application Details:

SOPRAROCK CANTS is installed in a bed of SEBS hot bitumen or oxidized bitumen applied with a mop, or it can be adhered using DUOTACK adhesives. The cant must be covered with a membrane by the end of the day to prevent exposure to weather, as it is not designed to be left uncovered. The product must be stored and handled in a dry environment and protected from the elements during transportation and installation.

Special Notes:

- SOPRAROCK CANTS must not be exposed to weather and should be covered with a membrane immediately after installation.

- The product meets ASTM C726 and FM 4470 standards for non-combustible core (NCC) rated roof insulation.

- It has a nominal density of 200 kg/m³ (12.5 lb/ft³), with excellent dimensional stability (0% linear shrinkage at -40°C) and low water absorption (<1%).

- Each unit measures 102 mm (4 in) wide at the surface, 38 mm (1.5 in) thick, and 25 mm (1 in) wide at the underface, with a length of 1219 mm (48 in). Each pack contains 29.3 linear meters (96 linear feet).

- Other dimensions are available upon request.

This product is a key accessory in roofing systems, ensuring proper membrane support and transition detailing, and should be used in accordance with SOPREMA’s installation guidelines and in combination with compatible adhesives and membranes.
