Material Use:
SOPRAROCK DD is a dual-density mineral wool board insulation designed for use in roofing systems. It provides thermal insulation, acoustic performance, and fire resistance. The product is particularly suitable for use in commercial and industrial flat roof assemblies where non-combustibility and dimensional stability are required.
System Components:
SOPRAROCK DD is typically used as part of a roofing insulation system. It is compatible with mechanically fastened roofing systems and can be used in combination with waterproofing membranes, provided that adhesives or hot bitumen are not applied directly to its surface. The system may include a vapor barrier, SOPRAROCK DD insulation, and a compatible membrane layer (such as SBS-modified bitumen or TPO/PVC membranes) installed above the insulation.
Applications:
SOPRAROCK DD is intended for use in low-slope commercial and industrial roofing systems. It is suitable for use under mechanically fastened or ballasted membrane systems. It is not designed for use as a structural roof deck or in areas subject to heavy foot or equipment traffic.
Application Details:
SOPRAROCK DD is installed using a loose-laid method and must be mechanically fastened. At least one component of the roofing system must be mechanically secured to ensure stability. The insulation boards are available in thicknesses ranging from 50.8 mm to 152.4 mm (2 to 6 inches), in 12.7 mm (½ inch) increments. Each board measures 1.2 x 1.2 meters (4 x 4 feet), and 40 boards are packaged per pallet.
Special Notes:
- Adhesive Restrictions: SOPRAROCK DD must not be used with adhesives or hot bitumen directly on its surface.
- Fire Resistance: The product is non-combustible with a melting point of approximately 1177 °C (2150 °F) and meets CAN/ULC S114 standards.
- Thermal Resistance: R-value of 3.8 per inch (0.68 m²K/W for 25.4 mm at 24 °C).
- Compressive Strength: Top layer compressive strength is 140 kPa (20 psi) at 10% deformation and 250 kPa (37 psi) at 25% deformation.
- Water Resistance: Water absorption is less than 1.0%, and water vapor sorption is 0.15%.
- Hail Resistance: Rated Class 1, Severe Hail under FM 4470.
- Storage Requirements: Must be stored at least 102 mm (4 inches) above ground on a flat surface, protected from weather with a breathable waterproof cover. Factory packaging is not weatherproof.
- Environmental Conditions: SOPRAROCK DD should not be exposed to inclement weather during storage or installation. All exposed edges must be sealed at the end of each workday by overlapping the roof membrane.
SOPRAROCK DD is a high-performance insulation solution for fire-safe, thermally efficient, and acoustically sound roofing systems, especially where mechanical fastening is preferred and adhesive use is restricted.
