Material Use:
SOPRAROCK DD PLUS is a dual-density mineral wool insulation board designed for use in roofing systems. It provides thermal insulation, acoustic performance, and fire resistance. The product is specifically engineered for compatibility with SOPREMA’s torch-applied, mop-applied, or adhesive-applied roofing membranes, making it ideal for use in commercial and industrial flat roofing assemblies.
System Components:
SOPRAROCK DD PLUS is typically used as part of a complete SOPREMA roofing system. It can be installed in combination with the following components:
- Adhesives: DUOTACK adhesives (for adhered systems)
- Bitumen: SEBS hot bitumen or oxidized bitumen (for mop-applied systems)
- Membranes: SOPREMA torch-applied or mop-applied membranes
- Fasteners: Screws and plates (for mechanically fastened systems)
Applications:
SOPRAROCK DD PLUS is used in non-structural roofing insulation applications where high compressive strength, fire resistance, and dimensional stability are required. It is suitable for use in:
- Commercial flat roofs
- Low-slope roofing systems
- Acoustic and thermal insulation layers in roofing assemblies
Application Details:
SOPRAROCK DD PLUS can be installed using several methods:
- Loose Laid: Panels are laid directly on the substrate and held in place by the overlying roofing membrane.
- Bitumen-Adhered: Panels are set into a bed of SEBS or oxidized bitumen applied with a mop.
- Adhesive-Adhered: Panels are bonded using DUOTACK adhesives.
- Mechanically Fastened: Panels are secured to steel decks using screws and insulation plates.
Special Notes:
- Compatibility: SOPRAROCK DD PLUS is compatible with SOPREMA’s torch and mop-applied membranes, as well as DUOTACK adhesives. However, it is not compatible with self-adhesive membranes.
- Fire Resistance: The product is non-combustible with a melting point of approximately 1177 °C (2150 °F) and meets CAN/ULC S114 standards.
- Compressive Strength: The top layer offers up to 250 kPa (37 psi) at 25% compression, making it suitable for moderate foot traffic during installation.
- Water Resistance: Water absorption is less than 1.0%, and water vapor sorption is 0.15%, ensuring long-term performance in roofing environments.
- Hail Resistance: Rated Class 1 for Severe Hail under FM 4470.
- Dimensions and Thickness: Available in thicknesses from 50.8 mm to 152.4 mm (2 to 6 inches) in 12.7 mm (½ inch) increments. Standard board size is 1.2 x 1.2 m (4 x 4 ft).
- Storage: Must be stored off the ground (minimum 102 mm / 4 in), protected from weather with a breathable waterproof cover. Factory packaging is not weatherproof.
- Limitations: Not intended for use as a structural deck or in areas with heavy traffic. Must not be exposed to inclement weather during installation. All exposed edges should be sealed at the end of each workday.
This product is best used as part of a complete SOPREMA roofing system and should be installed in accordance with local building codes and SOPREMA’s technical guidelines. For wind uplift resistance and fastening patterns, consult CSA A123.21 or FM 4470 test reports.
