Material Use:
SOPRASEAL MESH is a reinforced non-woven polyester fabric designed for use as a reinforcing component in air and vapor barrier systems. It is specifically intended for above-grade wall applications to reinforce liquid-applied membranes, particularly SOPRASEAL LM 204 VP, over sheathing joints, rough openings, and transitions.
System Components:
SOPRASEAL MESH is used in conjunction with SOPRASEAL LM 204 VP, a liquid-applied air/vapor barrier membrane. Together, they form a complete system for sealing and reinforcing critical areas in wall assemblies. SOPRASEAL MESH acts as a reinforcing layer embedded into the wet membrane to enhance durability and performance at vulnerable points such as joints and corners.
Applications:
This material is used in commercial and residential construction for air and vapor barrier systems on exterior walls. It is applied over sheathing joints, terminations, inside and outside corners, and rough openings to provide additional reinforcement and ensure continuity of the air/vapor barrier.
Application Details:
To apply, SOPRASEAL LM 204 VP is first applied to the substrate at sheathing joints and other transition areas. While the membrane is still wet, SOPRASEAL MESH is immediately placed and centered over the wet membrane, ensuring it is fully embedded and saturated. The mesh should extend evenly on both sides of the joint and be lapped a minimum of 64 mm (2 ½ in) at intersections. If the membrane is applied with a roller, allow it to dry to the touch before applying SOPRASEAL LM 204 VP to the full wall surface. For spray applications, a “wet-on-wet” method is acceptable.
Special Notes:
- SOPRASEAL MESH is an accessory product and must be used with SOPRASEAL LM 204 VP for proper system performance.
- It is available in three standard widths: 100 mm (4 in), 150 mm (6 in), and 230 mm (9 in), all in 55 m (180 ft) rolls.
- The material weight is 83 g/m² (2.45 oz/yd²).
- SOPRASEAL MESH must be protected from physical damage during transport and installation.
- Store in a cool, dry place and protect from moisture.
- This product does not have a pot life or curing time as it is a fabric reinforcement, but it must be embedded into the wet SOPRASEAL LM 204 VP membrane for proper adhesion and performance.
- Environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity are governed by the requirements of the SOPRASEAL LM 204 VP membrane, which should be consulted for full system application guidelines.
