Material Use:
SOPRASEAL STICK AVB AT is a self-adhesive air and vapour barrier membrane designed for use in wall assemblies. It also functions as a through-wall flashing membrane and a waterproofing membrane at openings and transitions. This product is suitable for use in both new construction and retrofit applications, providing a continuous air and vapour barrier to improve energy efficiency and moisture control in building envelopes.
System Components:
SOPRASEAL STICK AVB AT is typically used in conjunction with SOPRASEAL STICK 1100 T for wall flashing applications and SOPRASEAL SEALANT for sealing around penetrations, reverse laps, and critical areas. While the membrane is designed to adhere directly to most substrates without a primer, SOPRASEAL STICK PRIMER or ELASTOCOL STICK ZERO may be used when additional surface preparation is required due to specific jobsite conditions.
Applications:
This membrane is recommended for use on a variety of construction substrates including metal, wood, gypsum, and concrete. It is ideal for use behind cladding systems, around window and door openings, and at transitions between different building envelope components. It is also compatible with sprayed polyurethane foam insulation, making it suitable for high-performance wall assemblies.
Application Details:
SOPRASEAL STICK AVB AT is applied by removing the silicone release paper and pressing the membrane firmly onto the substrate. Overlaps between sheets must be a minimum of 50 mm (2 in), and a hard roller should be used to ensure full adhesion. The membrane can be installed in temperatures ranging from -18 °C to 45 °C (0 °F to 113 °F), and it performs in service temperatures from -45 °C to 80 °C (-49 °F to 176 °F). The membrane is UV resistant for up to 12 months, allowing for temporary exposure during construction. However, when used in conjunction with sprayed insulation, it should not be exposed to inclement weather for more than 90 days, and mechanical fastening (e.g., metal bars) is recommended at perimeters and openings to prevent delamination.
