Material Use:
SOPRASEAL STICK VP is a self-adhesive, vapour-permeable air barrier membrane designed for use in exterior wall construction. It functions as a weather-resistant barrier that allows water vapour to escape from the wall assembly while preventing air and water infiltration. This product is ideal for use in commercial and residential building envelopes where air tightness and moisture management are critical.
System Components:
SOPRASEAL STICK VP is typically used as part of a complete air barrier system. It can be installed directly onto most substrates without a primer, although SOPRASEAL VP PRIMER may be used when additional surface preparation is required due to specific jobsite conditions. For sealing details, reverse laps, and critical areas, SOPRASEAL SCELLANT and either SOPRASEAL STICK FLASHPRO or SOPRASEAL STICK 1100T membranes are recommended. These components work together to ensure a continuous and durable air and moisture barrier system.
Applications:
This membrane is suitable for use on a variety of substrates including masonry, concrete, wood, and gypsum. It is commonly applied in wall assemblies of commercial, institutional, and residential buildings to enhance energy efficiency and protect against moisture intrusion. SOPRASEAL STICK VP is particularly effective in climates where vapour permeability is necessary to allow wall assemblies to dry out while maintaining air tightness.
Application Details:
SOPRASEAL STICK VP is applied by removing the silicone release film and adhering the membrane directly to the substrate. Longitudinal overlaps must be at least 50 mm (2 in), and transverse overlaps at least 75 mm (3 in). A membrane roller should be used to apply uniform pressure across the surface to ensure full adhesion. The membrane can be installed in temperatures ranging from -7 °C to 40 °C (19 °F to 104 °F), and it remains effective in service temperatures from -40 °C to 85 °C (-40 °F to 185 °F). The product is UV resistant for up to 180 days, allowing for flexibility in construction scheduling.
