Description
The SOPRASOLAR FIX EVO TILT system is used as a support for photovoltaic panels on roofs. It allows connection between the panel and cap sheet membrane without drilling into it and compromising the waterproofing properties of the roof.
UNITS PER SKID:
RAISER BLOCKER - 5760
LOWER RAISER - 3456
UPPER RAISER - 1332
SOPRASOLAR FIX EVO PEDESTAL - 360
Material Use:
SOPRASOLAR FIX EVO TILT is a non-penetrating photovoltaic (PV) panel mounting system designed for use on flat or low-slope roofs. It provides a secure and waterproof method of attaching solar panel arrays to roofing membranes without compromising the integrity of the waterproofing layer. This system is particularly suited for use with bituminous cap sheet membranes and is ideal for commercial or industrial roofing applications where solar energy integration is desired.
System Components:
The SOPRASOLAR FIX EVO TILT system consists of several modular components that work together to support and tilt photovoltaic panels:
- Pedestal Base: A factory-assembled, height-adjustable pedestal that includes a piece of waterproofing membrane for direct integration with the roof system.
- Lower Raiser: Adds a 10° tilt to the PV panel system. Dimensions: 40 mm × 120 mm × 45 mm (1.6 in × 4.7 in × 1.8 in).
- Upper Raiser: Works in conjunction with the lower raiser to achieve the desired tilt. Dimensions: 40 mm × 120 mm × 200 mm (1.6 in × 4.7 in × 7.8 in).
- Raiser Blocker: Ensures the raisers remain securely in place on the pedestal.
- Materials: The components are made from Polyamide 6 with 30% fiberglass filler and 6060 T6 primary aluminum, ensuring strength, durability, and resistance to environmental conditions.
Applications:
This system is used for mounting photovoltaic panels on bituminous roofing systems, particularly cap sheet membranes. It is suitable for new construction or retrofit projects where solar energy systems are being integrated into the building envelope. The system is designed to be compatible with SOPREMA’s bituminous roofing membranes and is ideal for use in areas where roof penetrations are not permitted or desired.
Application Details:
- Installation Process:
1. Install the cap sheet membrane on the roof.
2. Mark the pedestal locations based on the solar panel layout.
3. Embed granules in the designated area to ensure proper adhesion.
4. Heat the thermofusible plastic film on the pedestal’s underside with a propane torch.
5. Heat the corresponding area on the cap sheet membrane.
6. Reheat the pedestal base and immediately press it into place.
- Restrictions: Do not install over mechanically fastened membrane systems, as this may compromise the integrity of the installation.
Special Notes:
- Membrane Thickness: The integrated membrane on the pedestal base is 4.7 mm (185 mil) thick and reinforced with non-woven polyester.
- Surface Finish: Granulated surface with a thermofusible plastic film underface for heat-welded installation.
- Weight: Each pedestal unit weighs approximately 1.3 kg (2.9 lb).
- Mechanical Properties:
- Tensile Strength (Initial): Pedestal base: 6.98 kN; Head and rail: 7.14 kN.
- Tensile Strength (After UV Exposure): Pedestal base: 7.17 kN; Head and rail: 7.10 kN.
- Seismic Resistance: Passes ICC-ES AC156 for seismic conditions (e.g., Tofino, B.C.).
- UV Resistance: The system components are UV-resistant and maintain mechanical integrity after prolonged exposure.
- Environmental Considerations: The system is designed for outdoor use and can withstand typical rooftop environmental conditions. However, specific temperature or humidity limitations during installation are not provided in the TDS and should be confirmed with SOPREMA technical support.
This system is a specialized solution for solar panel integration on bituminous roofing systems and should be installed by trained professionals in accordance with SOPREMA guidelines.
