Description

Two-component odourless polyurethane adhesive used to adhere SBS polymer modified bitumen membranes on flashings and slope surfaces > 3 % (3/8 in per ft).

Material Use:

SOPRATACK FLASHING is a two-component, odourless polyurethane adhesive specifically designed for adhering SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) polymer-modified bitumen membranes on vertical flashings and sloped surfaces greater than 3% (3/8 inch per foot). It is part of SOPREMA’s roofing system solutions and is intended for use in roofing applications where strong adhesion and environmental resistance are required.

System Components:

SOPRATACK FLASHING consists of two parts: Part A (hardener) and Part B (resin). These components must be mixed together prior to application. The adhesive is used in conjunction with SBS-modified bitumen membranes. For surfaces that cannot be covered with a cap sheet membrane on the same day as the base sheet, ELASTOCOL 500 primer is recommended to saturate the sanded surface and prevent moisture intrusion.

Applications:

This adhesive is used for bonding SBS-modified bitumen membranes to vertical surfaces and sloped areas exceeding 3% incline. It is not recommended for low-slope applications (less than 3%), where SOPRATACK (standard version) should be used instead. SOPRATACK FLASHING is ideal for flashing details and areas where mechanical fastening is not feasible or desirable.

Application Details:

Before application, surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of oil, grease, dirt, or debris. Mix Part A into Part B using a low-speed mixer (200–400 rpm) for 4 to 5 minutes until a homogeneous consistency is achieved. Apply the adhesive using a 4.8 mm (3/16 in) or 6.0 mm (1/4 in) notched trowel to ensure a uniform coat. The recommended coverage rate is 1.5 to 2.0 L/m² (approximately 3.7 to 4.9 US gallons per 100 ft²), depending on substrate condition and application technique.

Special Notes:

- Pot Life: Approximately 60 minutes after mixing.

- Open Time: 15 minutes.

- Curing Time: 24 hours under ideal conditions (25 °C / 77 °F and 50% relative humidity). Curing time may be extended in cooler temperatures or with thicker applications.

- Application Temperature: Minimum application temperature is 0 °C (32 °F). For optimal handling and application, the adhesive should be stored and maintained between 10 °C and 30 °C (50 °F to 86 °F) for at least 12 hours prior to use.

- UV Resistance: Not specified; typically protected by membrane layers and not exposed directly to UV.

- VOC Content: 0 g/L (compliant with EPA Method 24).

- Storage: Up to 12 months in original sealed containers. No strict temperature limitations for storage, but avoid direct sunlight and heat.

- Cleaning: Tools and uncured adhesive can be cleaned with mineral spirits, Varsol, or Xylene.

System Compatibility:

SOPRATACK FLASHING is designed to work as part of a complete SBS-modified bitumen roofing system. It is compatible with ELASTOCOL 500 primer for surface preparation and is used in conjunction with SOPREMA base and cap sheet membranes. It is not intended for use as a standalone adhesive in low-slope areas or for non-bituminous membranes.

This material is a key component in SOPREMA’s roofing systems, particularly for detailed flashing work and sloped surfaces where high-performance adhesion is critical.
