Description

Spraylastic® Exterior Waterborne Dry Fall Semi-Gloss is an acrylic coating designed for interior or exterior use where overspray dries to a removable dust within 10 feet.

Material Use:

SprayLastic® is a waterborne acrylic dryfall coating designed for both interior and exterior applications where overspray control is critical. It is particularly suited for high-ceiling environments where overspray can be a concern, as it dries to a removable dust within 10 feet of application. This product is ideal for use in commercial, industrial, and institutional settings such as warehouses, manufacturing facilities, gymnasiums, textile mills, and parking garage ceilings.

System Components:

SprayLastic® is typically used as a topcoat in a multi-component system. Depending on the substrate, it may require a compatible primer or block filler. The system may include:

- Primers:

- *Steel:* Pro Industrial Pro-Cryl Primer, Pro Industrial DTM Primer-Finish, or Kem Bond HS

- *Aluminum (if priming is needed):* Pro Industrial Pro-Cryl Primer

- *Concrete Block (CMU):* Pro Industrial Heavy Duty Block Filler or Loxon Acrylic Block Surfacer

- *Concrete/Masonry/Plaster:* Loxon Concrete & Masonry Primer or Loxon Conditioner

- *Galvanized Metal (if priming is needed):* Pro Industrial Pro-Cryl Primer

- *Prefinished Siding (Interior):* Bond-Plex Waterbased Acrylic or DTM Bonding Primer

- Topcoat:

- 1–2 coats of SprayLastic® Exterior Waterborne Dryfall Semi-Gloss

Applications:

This coating is recommended for use on properly prepared structural steel, galvanized metal, concrete, masonry, aluminum, and previously painted surfaces. It is especially effective in environments where overspray control is necessary, such as:

- Warehouses

- Industrial and commercial buildings

- Institutional facilities

- Gymnasiums

- Parking garage ceilings

- Textile and manufacturing plants

Application Details:

- Application Method: Spray application only (airless or conventional). Brush and roller application are not recommended.

- Airless Spray Settings:

- Pressure: 2400 psi

- Tip Size: 0.015–0.019 inch

- Hose: 1/4 inch I.D.

- Filter: 60 mesh

- Conventional Spray Settings:

- Gun: Binks 95

- Fluid Nozzle: 63C

- Air Nozzle: 63PB

- Atomization Pressure: 60 psi

- Fluid Pressure: 50 psi

- Reduction: Water, up to 5% by volume if needed

- Surface Preparation: All surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants. Specific preparation varies by substrate and may include SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning, SSPC-SP2 hand tool cleaning, or SSPC-SP6 commercial blast cleaning. Concrete and masonry must be cured for at least 30 days and may require priming or conditioning.

Special Notes:

- Dryfall Performance: Overspray dries to dust within 10 feet under optimal conditions (77°F and 50% RH).

- Drying Times at 7.0 mils wet (50% RH):

- Touch: 30 minutes at 77°F

- Handle: 45 minutes at 77°F

- Recoat: 1 hour at 77°F

- Environmental Conditions for Application:

- Temperature: 40°F (4.4°C) minimum, 110°F (43°C) maximum

- Relative Humidity: Maximum 75%

- Surface must be at least 5°F above dew point

- Pot Life: Not applicable (single-component waterborne product)

- Cure Sensitivity: Sensitive to rain, dew, and high humidity during the first 16–24 hours of curing

- Film Thickness:

- Wet: 4.5–9.0 mils

- Dry: 1.8–3.6 mils

- Coverage:

- 178–356 sq. ft. per gallon at recommended thickness

- Theoretical: 641 sq. ft. per gallon at 1 mil dry

- VOC Content: 68 g/L (0.57 lbs/gal), compliant with most VOC regulations except SCAQMD and LEED v4 emissions

- UV Resistance: Not specified as UV stable; intended for overhead and indirect exposure areas

- Shelf Life: 36 months unopened

- Cleanup: Soap and warm water; flush spray equipment with compliant solvent to prevent rusting

Limitations:

- Not suitable for brush or roller application

- Not recommended for direct exposure to UV in high-exposure exterior environments without additional UV-stable topcoats

- Dryfall characteristics may be compromised below 77°F or above 50% RH

- Overspray may adhere to hot surfaces—remove immediately

- Not LEED v4 emissions compliant
