Description
Themecoat® 761 is a two component, 1:1, 100% solids, fast set, liquid applied, modified polyurea liner system for metal, concrete, fiberglass and wood surfaces.
Material Use:
Themecoat 761 – Two Component Modified Polyurea Protective Coating
Themecoat 761 is designed as a fast-set, 100% solids, liquid-applied modified polyurea coating. It serves as a high-performance protective liner system ideal for application on metal, concrete, fiberglass, and wood surfaces. Its properties make it well-suited for environments requiring abrasion, impact, and chemical resistance, such as OEM formliners and encapsulation of fiberglass and foam materials.
System Components:
This is a two-component system (Side-A and Side-B) mixed in a 1:1 ratio. The system may be used in combination with repair agents like Polycoat Products PC-260 or Polyprime 21 mixed with sand for surface repair on deteriorated concrete. For topcoat UV stability and colorfast finish, Themecoat 761 should be overcoated with an aliphatic polyurethane/polyurea within 12 hours after application.
Applications:
· Spray-in formliners (particularly for OEM applications)
· Encapsulation for fiberglass bodies and polystyrene foams
· Suitable for coating metal, concrete, wood, and fiberglass
· Can be used in both atmospheric and immersion environments with appropriate surface prep and priming
Application Details:
· Surface Preparation: Substrates must be structurally sound, clean, and profiled as per standards (e.g., SSPC-SP13/NACE 6, ICRI CSP 3–5 for concrete). Use shotblasting or chemical cleaning, followed by repair using PC-260 or Polyprime 21/sand mix where necessary.
· Priming: Required for metals and concrete where adhesion could be compromised. Specific recommendations are provided per substrate (e.g., blast and prime aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, etc.)
· Equipment: Must be applied using a plural component, high-pressure (≥2000 psi), heated (≥150°F) 1:1 ratio spray system.
· Substrate Temperature: Minimum 5°F (3°C) above dew point
· Preconditioning: Material must be warmed to 75–80°F (24–32°C) prior to application
· Application Technique: Apply in smooth, multidirectional passes for uniformity
Special Notes:
· Pot Life: 4 ± 2 seconds
· Tack Free Time: 10–12 seconds
· Recoat Window: 0–12 hours
· Return to Service: 1–4 hours for foot traffic, >24 hours for full service
· Recommended Thickness: Minimum 2 mm (80 mils); product can be built up to any desired thickness
· Coverage: 1 gallon covers approx. 1600 sq.ft. per mil thickness
· Curing Limits: Not UV-stable—subject to yellowing and flattening in sunlight unless topcoated
· Temperature Range for Service: -20°F to 250°F (-29°C to 121°C)
· VOC Content: 0 g/L (compliant for low-VOC requirements)
· Storage: Store indoors above 60°F (15°C); avoid freezing; shelf life is 6 months in sealed containers
