Single Component Hybrid Marking
TrafficGuard HM – Single Component Hybrid Marking
TrafficGuard HM is a durable, high-performance, one-part hybrid pavement marking material designed for concrete and asphalt surfaces. It is engineered for road safety by offering excellent surface adhesion and retention of reflective media, ensuring long-lasting and visible markings.
This is a single-component system, ready to use without mixing. Reflective media may be broadcast onto the wet surface for enhanced visibility, though it's not packaged as part of a system.
Ideal for use on:
· Concrete and asphalt roadways
· Work zones
· Bridge decks
· Parking structures and lots
· Airport runways and aprons
· Surface Preparation: Must be clean and free of curing compounds, oils, and debris. Existing markings should be removed per local DOT specs.
· Direct Application: May be applied directly over temporary/interim waterborne paint on asphalt (if existing paint is ≤12 mils). Not recommended for application over old markings on concrete without removal.
· Application Thickness: Commonly applied at 20 mils to 25 mils wet film thickness.
· Coverage Rates (per gallon):
o 4" Line: 240 LF (20 mils), 194 LF (25 mils)
o 6" Line: 160 LF (20 mils), 130 LF (25 mils)
o 8" Line: 120 LF (20 mils), 98 LF (25 mils)
· UV and Weather Resistance: UV and weather resistant for color stability under extreme temperature changes.
· Pot Life / Curing:
o Track-Free Time: <10 minutes (ASTM D711)
· Temperature Limits: Storage between 60°F - 80°F (16°C - 27°C); no specific installation temperature limits are provided but fast drying under a wide temperature range is noted.
· Durability: High abrasion resistance (<50 mg loss at 1000 cycles, FL DOT 971-CS10), with excellent tensile strength (>500 psi) and elongation (>50%).
· Adhesion: Excellent, with >300 psi bond strength and 100% concrete failure observed.
· Shelf Life: 12 months in original sealed containers.
· Color Options: Standard in white and yellow; custom colors available upon request.
· Packaging Sizes: 5-gallon pails, 50-gallon drums, 250-gallon totes.
Limitations:
· Application on concrete surfaces over existing markings without proper removal is not recommended.
· Not specified as a UV-stable or UV-resistant system after full cure in terms of degradation, though it maintains color stability.
· Environmental limitations during application are not detailed but standard best practices for ambient humidity and surface dryness should apply.
